I'd like the Apple board of directors, the FCC and FTC, and a couple Senate committees to come to the rural library where I work so they can listen to an elderly woman sobbing about how her Mac is now so old it can't connect to the internet anymore, so she can't access the email account that contains her 'entire life' and is 2FA-connected to a phone number she had to abandon years ago when someone lied to her about being able/willing to port her number to a new phone. Why is this ok?

I used to stream myself playing music on twitch and had a pretty wonderful group of friends there doing creative stuff. My account's been inactive for years but looking at this inevitable enshittification it's apparently time to delete whatever remains.

or maybe what's delusional here is you, thinking that anything about another person - their body, their chromosomes, or whatever - gives YOU the authority to control how they should be allowed to live their lives, what identity they should be allowed to inhabit and express, rather than those other people having any autonomy themselves to exercise those prerogatives, which don't effect you even in the slightest. I want to write a bot that recognizes any toot with a Spotify link, then searches Bandcamp / faircamp / the web for non-Spotify ways to listen to the same song, and outputs that info, possibly to a reply (if that doesn’t seem too aggressive) or maybe just to an RSS feed. I love music and I just will not give Ek the traffic - plus I think people should be encouraged to find non-corpo-dystopia-silo ways of discovering and enjoying music.

Sorry, I need a moment. A new player showed up at the open mic I host on Tuesday nights and absolutely blew my mind - brilliant playing and singing, really creative composition and guitar parts, just a totally natural and compelling performance.
So today I find him online and discover he’s a bigoted right-wing conspiracy theorist with a bug up his rear about “lgbtq+ recruitment.”Just. UGH. Thanks, world, I hate it.
Now to try to somehow transmute this kick in the face into something positive.
