My mastodon instance of 1 user is getting hammered to its limits by AI scrapers.

Gigabytes of cached data and bandwidth for absolutely nothing.

Low disk space. Energy spikes. Memory spikes. CPU spikes. Human labor...

The cost is truly staggering, and this is for a single instance belonging to a single, otherwise insignificant individual.

Imagine the scale of resource abuse, theft, and climate destruction across the internet.

Just so people can use a shitty #AI prompt on their shitty site.

✅ Super basic form builder.
✅ Super basic submit handler.

Next:
- validation handler
- build out more form components
- dispatch events for build, validate, and submit events

Going to have to write a Form API.
Better get some more beer first.

Heading to Portugal for a short break of a few days.

Just 3 nights in a little town by the Atlantic, with my spouse and some extended family... just what the doctor ordered 🤗 .

It baffles me that even communities like #WriteTheDocs accept that #AI is here to stay, that everyone better get on board, and here are 20 ways to include it in your workflows.

I've never see so many people across so many industries willfully, happily building the machine that was created to replace them.

#Drupal Founder Keynote Summary:

"#AI! #Innovation! Growth! Growth good! But need more growth. Need more #AI. #AI good!

But #AI spread misinformation about Drupal being outdated. Only *you* can change perception.

Generate more Drupal-positive content. Make #AI understand Drupal not irrelevant! Drupal really innovative! Drupal relevant! Drupal all about #AI!

Here free #AI demo platform. You show #AI in Drupal to everyone. You get pat on back. Attaboy."

First rain since the start of summer so the snails are falling from the pergola ceiling.

#LifeInSouthernSpain

After 20 years I've left the #Drupal community.

Drupal's core mission is now to be(come) the leading #AI-focused opensource CMS for enterprise customers.

Like everything in our industry, Drupal has succumbed to growth for the sake of growth, at all cost, and damn the consequences.

Drupal has lost its soul.

I am truly convinced that 100% of the time Trump says *anything*, the opposite is in fact true (no hyperbole).

Similarly, whatever DHH proclaims, the exact opposite is now my guide star.

Are there *any* content management systems (not Static Site Generators) with a #LowLLM or #NoLLM contribution policy?

Like any at all?

If you're trying to keep tabs on #AI contribution policies in opensource projects, here are two great resources:

#ChiPass, a #PreLLM fork of password manager KeepassCX, published its first release last week.

I'm happy to report back that so far on Debian it's been a stable drop-in replacement without any issues.

Thanks, @whitequark & friends.

Looks like much of the GNOME ecosystem (Circle, Shell Extensions, Libadwaita, Loupe) and Flathub are banning or at least significantly tightening their #AI / #LLM policies.

While probably not perfect to everyone's tastes, this makes me feel optimistic and more energetic than I've been in a while.

There *does* seem to be a growing consensus, maybe even the start of a counterculture.

➡️ Know of other communities / tools / forks adopting #NoLLM or #LowLLM policies? Do share!

I wonder if we're going to see the rise of a GNU-like opensource ecosystem that's "Free as in LLM-free", with a strict #NoLLM / #NoAI contribution policy.

If not for the Linux kernel, then at least for user space, surely?

Falling in line with #AI sloppification and #Omarchy #groveling was exactly what I expected from #laravel's #TaylorOtwell.

Showing off his orange Lambo in front of his multi-million dollar residence was exactly the prelude I thought it was going to be.

Tech article on the Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) stack:

"Windows OS: Released by Microsoft on 10 November 1983 it is a GUI-based Operating System that helps clients communicate with hardware, other software programs, create, delete files and folders, store data and do much more!"

Thanks a lot, #AI #Garbage producers. Suuuper duper helpful.

#Amazon CTO Werner Vogels becomes #Omarchy's newest patron.

Wunderbarlich. All the wankers are crawling out of the woodwork.

If you're new to #Scaleway's #ObjectStorage (#S3 buckets), here's something I wrote to help future me, because I will have forgotten all about this stuff in a few months.

Hope it helps you too.

#StarTrek movie marathon!

ST 1: The Motion Picture, first impressions:

- Federation uniforms: chest hair everywhere!

- Klingons with 70's side burns and mutton chops!

- Spock: Kwai Chang Caine with pointy ears!
