Though kettle on first, perhaps…

Good news everyone! It’s controller soldering day today!

Hilariously, our studio mate yesterday said, “brave of you to propose an artwork you don’t fully know how to make” and we just look at each other…

I think the more appropriate term is “stupid”.

Fucktober day 6: had a great day yesterday discovering that bending aluminium tube is going to be easier than feared, but that has been offset today by discovering that we are going to need to work out how to slice a spiral cut along the length of a 3m flexible plastic tube.

Fuck.

It’s the first day of Fucktober! The month when I fully internalise that I have to deliver 27 new light sculptures at the beginning of November.

Fuck.

Into the solid assembly end of this project now: we have 15 of these to finish this week

I didn’t have anything I needed to throw away, but the instruction was so insistent that I tore off some toilet roll to put in it

No, *you* ordered 25m of the wrong size of heat-shrink!

Sigh…

Ta da! Taken longer than they should have, but… hey ho

Cripes! OK, too much for this early in the day

Hit me up with your thoughts on positive differences that one person can make in this world!

I want to remain informed, but I struggle to read any news without feeling depressed; it really feels like humanity is entering the stupidest phase of my lifetime

Still feeling crook today, but I really need to get on with some work, so I've decided to have an easy day soldering up control boards

Yes, I am still doing through-hole soldering. No, I'm not sorry

Maybe AI discourse would be better if we started thinking of them as dogs? So instead of "OpenAI's foundation model escaped containment and hacked Hugging Face" we thought "OpenAI's dog broke the flimsy lead they had it on and mauled a child"

Do I watch a film or start Untitled Goose Game?

(Yes, I have never played it – I know…)

Feeling rough today so I have cheered myself up a bit by finishing "Monument Valley III" and "Arise: a simple story" on the Steam Deck

Both very enjoyable. Arise, in particular, has some lovely snow and ice graphics, and great music. I did do a lot of falling off ledges, though…

Don't tell anyone I showed you this, but…

“Sadly, we have also been contacted by a number of supporters and members of the public who have informed us that they wish to withdraw their support in recent days."

We can disagree on how the government should deal with asylum seekers entering the country by small boat, but I can't imagine what kind of a cunt you have to be to cancel your RNLI donation because they wouldn't let people drown

I dunno… I feel like wanting to share my browsing behaviour with your 564 "trusted partners" is perhaps the opposite of valuing my privacy?

Back at work today after my hols. Cheering myself up by donating to the RNLI, because there is surely nothing more positive than boiling far right piss

Also, yay for maths! This thing has turned out exactly the size it was meant to be
