Heading to the Frederick Fiber Festival tomorrow. I've never been, but last year there was quite a buzz about it here in DC (Frederick is about an hour north).
Anyone else in the DMV going?

Weird how if I go to bed on time I can actually get up earlier. 🙃
Today I realized that using Libby, I can borrow the ebook version of a book, and then go borrow the audio version so I can enjoy both. I'm a little baffled why it took me this long to put this together! 😆
Following along in the ebook while streaming over my hearing aids almost doubles my reading pleasure. I'm pretty sure that the text helps me make sense of what I'm hearing.
It's like subtitles for the audio!
I decided today to withdraw from the clinical trial. The research team has been badly disorganized: texts with wrong information, and no reply to my emails asking whether I’m still a participant.
Today was supposed to be my start date. I cleared my client schedule but heard nothing, so I’m skipping the two-hour round trip and not showing up to see if that prompts a response. If it doesn’t, I’ll file an ethics complaint.
Still, I’m pretty disappointed.
Wordle was unfun today.

I was looking through pics that I took on this day over the past several years and came across this pic of porcelain berries from October 19, 2019 in a walk through our neighborhood park.
Invasive af, but damn, those colors!
My physical therapist has gone to Japan to visit family for two weeks so I've had today and last Monday off and it feels like a vacation. 😅
It is such a deluge of hard news these days, and I find myself not wanting to add to it. But I want to close the loop on this one.
Many of you shared my post about my friend’s contractor, who was kidnapped by ICE last Wednesday on his way to his immigration appointment.
Taken Wednesday. Sent to Louisiana Thursday. On Friday, he called his family from Honduras, the country he left as a small child.
It’s over. No appeals.
What can be so stressful in moments of change or challenge is feeling unprepared, caught off-guard, somehow out of control. But if we shift our perspective right in the midst of this falling and losing control, we can maintain our balance inside of us and touch the many resources we already have to meet the unexpected.

For those who find themselves confronted by a situation involving ICE (as a witness for example) but don't have a ton of help to offer, two basic actions you can take are:
1) film the abduction
2) If there are family members or friends left behind, provide them with the footage as critical evidence and at a minimum you can give them this resource: https://icerrt.com/

My best friend's contractor didn't show for work yesterday.
Last night, his brother showed up and knocked on his door.
"My brother was picked up by ICE at his immigration hearing. When he called me, he told me to come to your house and finish the job." They gave him money and told him to go home.
My friend found a lawyer for the contractor last night, but as he said, "I'm not sure if I'm more shaken as an American or as a Jew."
We have to end this nightmare.
I thermos brewed some aged shou puer in my nifty new, cheerful Zojiroshi thermos! I brewed about 4 gms of tea after rinsing it, letting it sit for about 4 hours before drinking, and then drinking it through out the afternoon.
It was so good! Buttery smooth, mellow, complex. I'm back at it today, brewing more to take to my office this afternoon. Highly recommended if you like aged teas!
