Hello #PortfolioDay! ^__^ I'm Jonas, #illustrator and graphic designer, living in #Edinburgh, #Scotland. I enjoy many forms of visual creativity from logos, business cards and flyers to books, #animation, #3d graphics and #fulldome #video.

I love #nature and everything fantastic, loathe cars and capitalism. Working with only #FOSS tools (but can do #Adobe if needed).

Anybody know how to get @gnome #desktop to not #sleep when the #laptop lid is closed?

It should be an option in Tweaks ( https://help.gnome.org/gnome-help/power-closelid.html )

But my version of Tweaks (49 on #Bluefin 44) doesn't even have the „General“ tab that is mentioned there. Nor the actual option. Neither does „Refine“.

Any ideas?

(It's somewhere in the Dconf Editor als always, isn't it?)

Unfortunately, I'm now all out of anti AI slop stickers 🤖

Would people be interested in them if I order more?

Hi! Here's a new illustration (finally):

„Frog Temple Pool“ (2026) 🐸:

This started as another (failed) study at how light filters through trees but I'm happy with the final result anyway ^__^

Check out next post for some details!

That's it for #ColonyOfArtist in #Edinburgh for 2026 🥳

Thanks so much to all the people (and dogs ^__^) who came round to see us and look at my art, it was such a pleasure!

I was especially surprised that people really seem to love the (veeery #wip) game @andrewmc is helping me out with 🥰

Hello #Linux people ^__^

I have a computer that is on #Ubuntu 24.04.5 #LTS.

Shouldn't I be able to upgrade to 26.04.1 LTS? I thought after the first point release of the next LTS „do-release-upgrade“ would do that?

But when I do that I get „There is no development[???] version of an LTS available.“

Thanks in advance!

It'll be interesting how fast I can push this or if my „Or I'll just clean this up (for ten hours)“ brain will take over in the end … (not that that is necessarily a bad thing).

I noticed something interesting in the last few weeks: I feel like the #slopocalypse has made me loosen up my style (a bit). With all the #AISlop ruining #art I feel like I wanna lean into the imperfect, unclean.*

I don't think it's all because of slop, I also have been looking at old work of mine and liking that you can clearly see it's vector stuff.

* Not unlike what @davidrevoy is describing here: https://mastodon.art/@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org/117123322023319294

Here's handy #Inkscape #hack I just figured out:

I constantly want to switch from changing values in the Fill and Stroke menu to the node tool which leads to me writing „75nnnnn“ („n“ being the shortcut for the node tool) in an input field.

Instead: Change a value and press Tab a couple of times until you're not in a field any more and then the shortcut!

I'm changing the L in HSL all the time, so I just need to hit Tab twice to get out of that cursed text input ^__^

#keyboard #shortcut #tip

Ooohh, tabbed documents in #inkscape :

Hope you're getting well soon @doctormo 💖 and thanks to @rolandixor for doing this update ^__^

@lokjo Ewwwwww, Mappilary belongs to Meta? 💩

@lokjo What I'm really missing is an open alternative to Google Maps' (mostly crowd-sourced) / Tripadvisor's photos of cafes and restaurants interiors, menus and food items etc.

Does something like this exist? Would this be out of scope for https://www.mapillary.com/ (I think it wants to be an Streetview alternative?). Uploading images like that to Wikimedia feels to be the wrong place as well …

#FOSS #OpenSource #GoogleMaps #TripAdvisor #travel

Recently stumbled about #Mapcarta

https://mapcarta.com

Another project (like https://cartes.app/ and @lokjo ) building on excellent #OpenStreetmap data.

While I like Cartes for planning routes, Mapcarta is very good to get an overview and interesting things in a place / area since it integrates #Wikimedia / #Wikidata data quite nicely.

#map #maps #osm #cartes #lokjo #travel

🎉 Made 1k contributions to #Openstreetmap! One of my fav projects of all time!

I think #StreetComplete counts both the things in-app as well as online on #OSM (and in #Osmand)?

And number 1000 was this funny thing in the screenshot that I had not seen before:

#FOSS #OpenSource #OpenData #CrowdSource #map #maps #cartography

So, I have this very weird problem on my #linux #desktop machine (running #Bazzite based on #fedora :

Every Monday morning my #SSD gets hammered with reads for about 10 – 20 minutes to a point where the system is unusable for that time. I can see this in Resources (the disk activity is 100%) but I cannot figure out what is doing this. KDE System Monitor, btop, Resources don't show anything that is unusual.

Any ideas?
