I'm only a few pages into @pluralistic 's new novel Picks and Shovels and I'm already nostalgic for tractor feed printer paper and Lotus 1-2-3

I also love this clanger - "it's still open source, you just can't distribute forks" - https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitwarden/comments/1g7uwa2/comment/lsu353s/ - what is open source if you can't distribute a fork? #bitwarden #opensource

Not great how #BitWarden has shut down all conversation about the licensing bug. The GitHub issues are locked and so is the Reddit thread. Why can't we discuss this?

Officially, just a packaging bug - https://community.bitwarden.com/t/concerns-over-bitwarden-moving-away-from-open-source-what-does-our-future-hold/74800/2 . Fingers crossed. #bitwarden

It looks like BitWarden is transitioning to closed source. https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/issues/11611 ... #enshittification in the making . Time for a client fork + VaultWarden? #BitWarden

Kudos to Anna-Lena Popkes for this evaluation of Python environment managers and packaging tools. This article does a great job of showing how the tools differ. https://alpopkes.com/posts/python/packaging_tools/ #python

Spent the afternoon reviewing some Python package managers. 3 down, only 9997 to go. #python

Inspired by today's xz events I wanted to reread Clifford Stoll's classic book Cuckoo's Egg from 1990. It's finally available in ebook - except in Australia.

I could borrow it from my local library in dead tree form but I'd rather an ebook, and I'm happy to pay.

It's crap like this that might lead one to check a "shadow library". #ebook

Why does "update and shutdown" in Windows 11 always forget to shutdown? #windows11 #fail
