@riecatnor and I are happy to play a tiny part in contributing to the logo.

@pyladiesdub @whykay @ThePSF @jezdez
Happy to serve alongside the other elected directors with @elthenerd whose passion for the community goes far beyond what people saw at PyConUS.
@EWDurbin who knows PyPI by the tip of the fingers moved from PSF staff to the Board and Laís Carvalho, an advocate for underrepresented communities with the courage to start new things.
Thank you Denny Perez, @cheukting_ho & @chrisjrn for your service 🙏.
Lots of work ahead. Now, back to work.
I was quiet yesterday because we were finalising the PSF strategic plan while the Chair, @jezdez, reviewed the last version. It was published the same day as the election results.
For the first time, the @ThePSF has a proper strategic framework for where the Foundation is going and what we're building together. For a language used by millions, that's been a long time coming.
Read it here: https://www.python.org/psf/strategy/
Thank you to the 421 people who voted for me. Wow. My following is probably smaller than that 😅 so thank you for trusting me.
I wrote my nomination at PyCon LATAM in Costa Rica and heard the results at @pyladiesdub Dublin. @whykay told me how much a @ThePSF visit meant to their group. The number in the room isn't what matters. Showing up for the people who sweat for this community is. 🧵

I haven’t talked much about it, but I’m running for the board again this year 😊 .
I would like to continue the work I started with the board, build on what we’ve achieved, and finish what’s still unfinished.
Voting is now opened till 15th September.
I finally wrote the blog post I have been meaning to write about my project, the Open Community Leadership: why I started it and the problem it is trying to solve
I’ll also be at PyConFR in Biarritz organised by Association Francophone Python (AFPy), giving my keynote :Sustaining Open Source for the Future and running the OCL workshop. If you’re coming, I’d love to see you there.
Here's the post: https://georgiker.com/blog/open-community-leadership-what-is-that/

RE: https://mastodon.social/@sovtechfund/116731663840822816
I’m really honoured and excited to be one of the fellows supported by @sovtechfund this year 😊.
Looking forward to meeting the other fellows, learning about their projects, and contributing to the open source ecosystem together.
I’m donating a PyBabies Bundle #15 to the PyLadies Auction at @pycon
The figures were hand painted in Indonesia and one of the community members helped carry across the world here. I have a small run with me available for those attending PyConUS or EuroPython. Hand-painted figure. Zine. Sticker pack. Collector’s card.
You can check them out at shop.pybabies.com and DM me if you are interested.
One week.
PyCon US starts next Tuesday.
If you've been "thinking about it," Houston, stop procrastinating. Just come.
It’s going to be fun.
New AI and Security tracks. PyLadies Auction (chaotic, the good kind). Lightning talks. Open spaces. Hallway track. Ice Cream selfies @mariatta Sprints with the people who built the projects.
If you're on the fence, open the gate. Registration is still open.
I’ll be there. Probably running in loops.
Stickers if you find me 👀
I’ve never tried a model like this before.
But watching the Python community applaud without support frustrates me. Recognition doesn’t pay for servers, events, or time.
“Donations” make people hesitate. Stories don’t. PyBabies turns stories into something you can hold. Figures, zines, collector cards, sticker packs.
Series 000 celebrates 15 years of PyLadies.
Soft sales at #PyConUS and #EuroPython.
25% goes back to PyLadies. You get the work. They get support. And I don’t work for free.
RE: https://fosstodon.org/@pycon/116487432210126490
HEY!! The last hotel block at the Westin closes tonight (Pacific time). Book through the link from @pycon site if you haven’t yet.
Come find me (I’ll be running in loops) and grab a free sticker (you earned it by clicking the link). Plus some mystery swag 👀 as a thank you. I wrote about why it matters here: https://georgiker.com/blog/are-you-attending-pycon/
Are you attending @pycon, or orbiting it?
I wrote something personal about why where you stay during PyCon changes the entire experience, and why this year it matters more than usual.
If you’re coming to PyCon US, this one’s for you:

I just have to share this. Someone at @jetbrains took the time to create a personalised video for @sleepypioneer, Una Galyeva and me!
PyTV is the thing right now whether you're Py or no-Py, the hype is real and the promo gives you full MTV vibes hosted by @cheukting_ho @t_redactyl @wsvincent
We'll be talking about How PyLadies Is Shaping the Future of Python on March 4, 13:25–13:55 CET/CEST.
You can sign up from ANYWHERE in the world for free https://lp.jetbrains.com/python-unplugged/
Why invest energy in D&I work when it's being questioned everywhere?
Because barriers are real. Because Python is global. This is what not giving up looks like.
