Quiet, Australians.
I have a Palm Treo that still works. Somebody please tell me I do not have time to do stuff with it.

It was such a pleasure to be part of Chain of Command, a new exhibition about women and bikes!
This awesome art show celebrates women who ride and what cycling means to them. Beautiful works on display now at the Queen Victoria Women's Centre until October 30.

Logged in to the HR system to book some leave, and there’s a new page with a catalogue of training courses I can do.
“Intraperitoneal injection - Mouse” and “Cardiac bleed a Mouse” are on the list of 23 courses available.
Working in a university is both fascinating and terrifying.
I feel I already have the basics of animal anaesthesia, having used non-drug pain relief techniques before cleaning a wound on a horse using a razor blade, and castrated sheep with no anaesthetic, much earlier in my life.
Thinking back to early in my career, sitting in a meeting room with print outs of code and a highlighter, with the goal of deleting us much of it as possible, because everyone understood that each line was a liability, and a drag on every outstanding requirement.
*sigh*
When the cataloger of our fabulous new miniature books collection comes by and asks, “Do you want to see something pretty?” you say yes.
@georgepenney is certainly making her mark in my nearest town
i saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by the internet, scrolling hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the social feeds at dawn, looking for an angry take,
This made my day
:neobun:
A woman 👩🏼 has been murdered on average every 161 hours ⏰ this year in Australia. All but 1 was killed by male violence. 90%+ by a man known to them. In the same time:
0 women killed by firebombings 🔥💣
0 women killed by machete gangs
0 women killed by carjackings 🚗
0 women killed by bikie gangs 🏍️
0 women killed by home invasions🏡
0 women have killed by sharks 🦈
0 women killed by bushfires 🔥
0 women killed by terrorism 💣
I raise this because where does the attention of our media and politics focus on? Answer: not women’s safety at hands of men known to them
According to the ABC news weather dude the false rain on the BoM radar lately is the moths.
Tonight it’s also rain, the moths are in my kitchen
There’s a little kid I’ve seems a couple times now (with his mom) drive off the subway in a tiny black electric car and toward the elevator and I’ve never been more envious of anyone.
@emmadavidson I have this sticker on my Electronic Flight Bag (iPad) for work: https://www.redbubble.com/i/sticker/CyberRating-99-CyberSecure-by-eigenmagic/84342373/7sgk
@emmadavidson @stufromoz You can print them yourself and stick it onto a magnet, as well. @mike did some for me like that, IIRC.
I have had this jumpstart pack for ~15yrs. Still works. Well, until today.
The air compressor is operated by switching GND (held in fingers). This corroded (white blob) at the PCB, and when The Bloom Of My Desert turned the pack off, the wire broke loose. The wire then contacted some random ground inside the device, completing the circuit and running the compressor. There is no other off switch. Turning the main contactor off did diddly and The Guiding Star Of My Night had a ZOMBIE MACHINE!
I have Beyoncé in my head singing “if you liked it then you shoulda put a sticker on it” while dancers in leotards whack cyber rating stickers on all the kitchen appliances.
You need to reevaluate your priors. The fridges are so powerful now, and what was true of refrigeration a month ago simply isn’t now. If your fridge isn’t connected to the internet with a known admin password, and can’t heat up to 50°C you’re going to be left behind.
Sure, you might have assessed the CyberRating™ of your Internet-connected fridge and/or freezer, but did you put a label on it? https://cybersecure.eigenmagic.com/
