What is it with dogs and sticks! 🐕😂

8 yr old Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The butterflies he had tended as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. When he released them into the wild, they would fly right back to him. Was it possible they actually remembered him?

Jo wrote a letter to an entomologist at Georgetown University, Dr. Martha Weiss. He asked if she could help him design an experiment, and she said yes.

Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70% of them still avoided the scent. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis, yet the memory survived anyway. Then he bred them.

The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to lavender their grandmother had been taught to fear.

Jo presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10.

A second grader wrote a letter to a Georgetown professor, and together they found evidence that butterflies can pass memories down through generations.

Marmots are large ground squirrels, in fact they are the heaviest members of the squirrel family.

Depending on the species marmots live in high-altitude alpine meadows, rocky mountain slopes, and open grasslands across North America, Europe, and Asia.

They survive harsh winters by spending several months hibernating deep underground.

They are very social and friendly and make funny noises when they eat 🤩

When Queen released “Bohemian Rhapsody” in 1975, nobody had heard anything quite like it.

A six minute song with no chorus, multiple genre shifts, and an operatic section that radio stations were told would never work.
Boy were they wrong!

Here's a talented TikToker doing a brilliantly funny rendition of one of the best rock anthems ever!

Canada has six major taxpayer-funded Holocaust museums and dozens of smaller memorials.

But when the Canadian Museum for Human Rights opens one single exhibit on the Nakba, Zionists all lose their minds.

It's like they don't believe Palestinians have the same human rights as themselves.

A Jewish employee at Old Florida Book Shop in Hollywood, Florida confronted Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz over her pro-Israel support for the Gaza genocide.

"How do you sleep at night?"

DWS scurried out the back.

The employee sent this video to Max Blumenthal who posted it on X.

You don't have to be Catholic to agree with every word of the quotes below taken from Pope Leo XIV's first encyclical, titled "Magnifica humanitas".

"They’re too dumb to love the thing we told them will take all their jobs”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai thinks that the reason there's intense backlash against AI is because human beings aren't evolved enough to understand it.

The flooding at the Greenford London subway station has been reduced by around 90% thanks to... *checks notes* ...a family of beavers.

After conservationists reintroduced a group of beavers into a nearby city park, the animals began building dams, and the wetlands they created now absorb and slow floodwater naturally.

City officials had been planning major flood infrastructure works, but the beavers effectively created them on their own — while also boosting biodiversity and restoring the ecosystem around them.

I think the money the city would have spent on anti-flooding infrastructure should go to the beavers, don't you? 🦫 🦫 🦫

Now who is absolutely, completely, totally not surprised by this? 🤦🏽

The only way to negotiate with corporatists and neoliberals!

In 1989, 19 yr old Indigenous leader, rights activist and environmentalist, Tuíra Kayapó brandished her machete in the face of a Brazilian government official, who was trying to convince Indigenous leaders to accept a mega-dam project in the Amazon.

Look at what Google's AI just did to a Japanese artist...

It permanently banned their entire Google account, simply for uploading their own old manga files to Drive.

The artist's appeal was rejected. An algorithm decided that an artist's work was a violation.

And they didn't just lose Drive. Gmail, YouTube, every service.. gone!

Artists must take care. Never rely solely on the cloud for irreplaceable items like your own copyrighted data. Physical storage is the best approach.

Listen and weep

"We let you into our homes when your own countries tried to murder you and everyone else turned you away. We fed you and we clothed you. We gave you shelter. And we shared from the bounty of our land with you. And when the time was ripe, you kicked us out of our homes and homeland."

Monarchies ARE the problem.

Some people realized that centuries ago.
