It is best to not think of domains as 'owned' but as 'rented', where the terms of rental are overall way more amenable than a social media site. But it's fundamentally the same thing, just at a different software layer.
Friendly reminder that if you have a website on a domain you 'own', you are bound by the top level domain's TOS, which may prohibit pornography.

Today, one of the co-CEOs of #Mullvad (no, not that co-CEO, the other one) gave a keynote at the Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS).
Someone passed these out while he was speaking.
I wasn't at the talk, but I hear the Q&A was spicy, all about this topic. I think it was recorded and will post a link if/when it goes up.
Some years ago, I needed to get an visa for urgent travel to China, a process that required me to fly down to SF and stand in a very long line at the Chinese consulate. When I finally handed the woman there my forms, she promptly stamped them and said "you need to take these to Window 2", pointing around the corner. So I walked around the corner...
...where *the same woman* swiveled her chair around and proceeded to check the stamp that she had just applied.
I would have been annoyed if I wasn't in so much awe at discovering the purest form of bureaucracy.
@ghompupy@app.wafrn.net asked
about that weird bot: it's also running a fediverse account via gotosocial, so we should additionally be fediblocking social.kept.live.
