Just finished The Book of Dust, any recommendations on what to read next?

I'm looking for something SciFi/Cyberpunk or Fantasy. I liked Book of Dust a lot, I also liked everyrhing by William Gibso I read so far, ...

Some ideas in the poll, feel free to recommend additional stuff in comments.

Like is it normal that it takes about an hour to load a complete sitemap of a website?

Can someone explain to me why someone would rate limit sitemap.xml files (with quite some timeout, about one request every 10s or so). Large sitemap index with hundreds of sitemaps.

Mostly out of curiosity: Are there any current offline foss wyswyg html editors?

There seem to be many embeddable ones, but nothing that one can just install and open and it produces an html file or a folder structure.

Bonus if it outputs nice code that one could also read or tweak small things.

Stupid question but does boingboing.net have an RSS feed?

Vienna has really perfected the art of building good bike-highways but putting the worst infrastructure at the connections.

Ride 1km on a 4m wide bike path or bike street, no trafficlights, priority on most intersections.

Then wait up to 4 times at one intersection because there are separate traffic light for both directions of car travel of two streets.

Does anyone know a solution to generate #GDPR
compliant #rmarkdown documents?

I usually generate them with the self-contained option. But I currently have a document where I load basemap tiles and some js from a CDN.

Is there a simple way of just not loading this before the user consents?

So eine Scheiße! Ich hoffe irgendeine Stelle fördert das Projekt weiter.

A bit of whimsy for today.... the gradient horse art project (draw a horse and set it in motion) https://gradient.horse/

So I guess the nerds on here are just the right people to ask: I remember a story of someone tweeting random unassigned codes from the unicode emoji range and coming back to the post years later to see what was assigned to the codes.

Does anyone have a link to the post, a screenshot or anything?

why is it called boxer briefs and not manhole covers?

I just needed to run some LLM models in python to check some behavior (not just to get text predictions but stuff where I actually have to get the activation logits, etc.)

And omg, this is all dependency hell and so, so badly documented.

AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, ... all had several hours of downtime this year.

This year my NAS at home had more uptime than many hyperscalers.

This is not how webhosting is supposed to work.
