Also love that they are mostly immigrant owned and run. I talked to the owner of the shop who makes the skates and he was so sweet. He did a FaceTime call with me and even showed me the lasts that they use for Alysa Liu! https://www.nbcbayarea.com/hispanic-heritage-month/bay-area-ice-skate-maker/3960106/

Do you know anyone in Nebraska who worked for Union Pacific in the '70s–90s or is a ham radio or vintage computing enthusiast? I'm following leads on Teletype equipment used there.
Boosts appreciated.
Who is ready for the dramatic conclusion of this thread?
Greetings to my visible and invisible bisexuals on this festive day! 🎉
Update: I got another ping about it so I figured I'd call the office (and wait on hold...) just to explain what my hold up is, instead of laying it on them by surprise on Friday. The receptionist I spoke to was very nice and said we could do the intake in person on a tablet which supposedly has more options.
To be continued ...
Is there a #figureskating mastodon? Especially adult figure skaters!
Health care is a human right
Grrr.
I have a doctor's appointment coming up, so they sent me the thing on my phone, to update my insurance and allergies and meds. There are about a dozen screens.
But the first screen is consent forms, and I can't proceed to any of the other screens without signing the form consenting to AI medical transcription, which I specifically do not consent to
So I will have to ruin someone's day (or fold)

Every once in a while somebody mentions that it's possible to set a post as no replies allowed in ActivityPub but for some unfathomable reason, this is not implemented on mastodon
One of the neat things about working at a university is that you're surrounded by people who know a lot about a bunch of things, and they're happy to tell you about them
Which poll option will get the most votes
Blocked my first #crochet doily today! It’s actually way easier to starch and block a doily than I thought.
@grimalkina@mastodon.social when I am having dreams about angels rescuing me from the toaster fire, it is time for a new toaster
What if it's deliberate. What if 5 notifs for each package delivery, what if AI phone agents that restate all the info I typed into a form that I will just have to repeat AGAIN when I talk to the human about it, what if "iterating on the prompt" instead of just doing the work once normally, what if all these things are on purpose to just make us all so tired we'll agree to anything
Oh weird they gave this guy a blue verified badge for no reason
