I love it when you go to a lunch noodle store and ask for spicy. And you finish going ‘I can’t feel my face’

There are thousands of #cat people on here perhaps I can get some advice.

Dora (14) gets dry biscuits in the morning and tinned food in the evening. She has gone off the wet food. And scoffing the dry food because she is hungry.

Is there any issue with feeding her dry food all the time as long as I keep her water filled?

I tend to buy the better quality foods. If that makes a difference.

Picture of Dora because you need to see who you are dealing with. 😂

This is what I found in the bath this morning.

Just because I had the occasion to use one - here is the list of Australian phone numbers that you can use in documentation that are reserved and won't go anywhere. (like the USian 555 numbers) https://se.au/notes/fake-phone-numbers-in-australia/

So just had a PT session and was mansplained by some fscking obnoxious dood. Him in worse physical shape than me interrupted my PT to tell me I’m standing wrong and to use my core. PT just let him speak and then ignored him. I just thanked him and let him go but it’s why I hire a PT! And I wasn’t standing wrong and of course I have to use my core. Otherwise I’d be all floppy 🤪

Anyway. My beef is caked and I didn’t wrench my shoulder like the last time I did that routine (without the PT) so that is good!

@daedalus just read the #crux and loved your bit at the end. I have a similar history to you - a lot of contract and consulting work, but with retirement a little closer than I could admit, an opportunity came up with a team that I had worked with previously over many contracts and so I took the pay cut for the security of knowing that the last 5years or so of my ‘career’ I won’t have to do another job hunt. I should have done it earlier. The people are really great, the job is worthwhile and my boss cares and fights for his team. Have made some great friendships and we have done things together outside of work and ‘work drinks’. Very happy to have this as the last line of my resumé.

I went out with a group last night and it occurred to me that I am in a minority because I wear no jewellery or accessories apart from eye glasses which I need to see so not really accessorising! No watch. No rings no earrings or tattoos. Am I weird?

Perhaps.

@decryption so your post on password managers got me to your site, then I read your piece on Money / retirement and you had that link out to 'life expectancy' info. I am blown away that in 1970, the life expectancy of a male was 67.8 years, 20 years later was 74.3 and 20 years after that 79.9! The combination of modern medicine, vaccines and better availability of nutrition (and probably other stuff) have made such a huge difference!

I have been told I have to advertise.
So here goes:
Hills Symphony Orchestra are playing an exciting concert on the afternoon of Sunday 14th June. It's our first ever World Premiere! The Baritone Saxophone Concerto has never been performed before. It is a gorgeous, melodious expression of joy. You will love it. The concert also features Beethoven's 3rd Symphony ('Erioca').
The orchestra website is currently broken but tickets can be bought from https://www.trybooking.com/DLPIR or at the door on the day (assuming we aren't sold out)

Ooh I remembered it is #caturday without being reminded by the posts from the rest of the world when it’s already Sunday for me.
Here’s Dora as I found her this morning. #catsofmastodon

Reading the #crux this morning and the last line touched me.

‘Why not be the sun for your own little solar system?’

So much meaning in so few words.

Thanks @daedalus

Playing trad jazz for an aged care facility this afternoon. Going over very well!

Have been using #PHPUnit for unit testing on my code for a while, working entirely from the documentation - which is very good. But I just looked at the tests on another code base (not mine) and OMG, I have been so inefficient with my tests! Really should have been looking at other people's code before I headed off into the unknown.
I test things in a really round-about way, but I have had my eyes opened to more direct and simpler mechanisms of mocking and bunching tests together.

Well the #astrophotography from Wednesday night was a failure. I ran out of space on the device! So last night was a retry.

@ff3 Cool app. I think it will definitely get some use. Thanks.
My one gripe is no Stock market, but you pointed me in the direction of Portfolio performance and that is a brilliant app, and why would you want to duplicate that? having some interaction between the two apps may be interesting? Just to get current net worth kind of thing?
Regardless - thank you. It certainly fills the requirements well.

I love/hate running git blame on my work code. All down the side of my code is the last editor of each line - me.

I hate it because it is just proving to me that the problem I am trying to fix was created by me in the first place!

I love it, because it will point to the check-in that I introduced the bug, so I can see what the context of the change is.

This wee little beastie ‘Dora’ has just come down the stairs complaining that she hasn’t been fed for over a decade and I should sort it out now! So I take her to her bowl that I definitely filled up only 2 hours ago and it still had some food in it so I pointed it out. She looked at me like I was silly and said ‘I know there is food in that bowl but the other bowl doesn’t have food in it and I want that! But that is her breakfast bowl. It is dinner time.

Anyway, she ate the rest of dinner and is now complaining that I am on my phone and not petting her.

@daedalus 'Climbing a mountain with a canoe' is a brilliant analogy. #TheCrux is excellent again (as always). Thanks.

Beefcake time! And PT was lenient on me because 3 weeks since I've seen him. Just as well - it nearly killed me anyway!

Well... that's twice in 2 days where someone has gone 'have you got a <specific, old> cable" and I've gone, "I think so" and look in the "Box Of Cables" ™️ and there you go.
And to think that I was considering tossing it out!
