My son attended his first Boy Scouts meeting Tuesday, at a nearby church. I saw this statue and got inspired.
The only thing worse than having my sleep disrupted by anxiety over a 6am project status meeting is when that meeting is canceled at the last minute.
I recently self-tested for COVID because folks running an event tomorrow requested attendees to do so. I did get my booster last fall. But with all the mistrust of vaccination (thanks to pseudo science, conspiracy theorists, bungled COVID response, and RFK!) have lead us to a world where herd immunity has been weakened. Now COVID isn’t our biggest threat, but stupidity is. GET VACCINATED or BOOSTED.
What a crazy day! No Kings protest in the morning. Son’s taekwondo class in the afternoon. And in the evening we spent a few hours at the San Jose International Film Festival.
At long last, my OG #Nest #thermostat will very soon become unmanageable and won’t receive updates from the mother ship. Considering it’s older than my 12 year old, it’s had a marvelous run… and I avoided ever having to Google it.
So now I’m looking for a thermostat that can do #Matter, #Thread, and Apple #HomeKit. My goal is no additional enshitified clouds.

I was just wondering today if the US shutdown will last longer than the funding period of the bill some are trying to force through. I would actually find this kind of amusing, assumptions about political pressure. It’s gotten to the point where civil rights and health may begin to outweigh politics as usual.
Stand your ground, Democrats. We deserve healthcare, and not to increasingly become a third world kingdom.
As much as I know that this administration will set civil rights back decades, it still makes my stomach turn watching it happen like this. It would be far more humane if they just took these poor minors to the slaughter rather than torture them this way. It’s like a brand new inquisition, with a smile and a soft tradwife banal tone as they rip your psyche to shreds.
It’s stunning how little we care for these lives AFTER birth.

Today I received the first of what I’m sure will be a metric ton of political ads in the mail, about the redistricting special election in CA. Dems urging us not to stoop down to GOP tactics.
But it isn’t. We’re following the democratic process. Raising our voices in opposition to facism, even if it means temporarily setting aside our ideals to strengthen our principles, and to fight corruption.

I had to shake my head this morning. Two separate and inexplicably linked headlines. Just like wanting to bring jobs and industries back to the US while dismantling and politicizing education. Or decry famine while we dismantle agencies to deliver aid.

I’d much rather reward these sorts of teams, like #TWiT, who provide solid and trusted content rather than big media because they like paywalls and have reputations to live on.
Is dancing/other movement to music a stim?
Today I couldn’t get started on what I needed to in the kitchen. Too tired, too much to do, too much stuff in the way.
The second I put my headphones on with music I was dancing and suddenly capable of getting on. Seconds ago I was too “tired” to barely move.
