Sad times. We upgraded our fleet of Octopus Cloud servers to .NET 9 but had to revert and go back to .NET 8 due to memory leaks 😞 #dotnet

@gruber - totally missing the point here with https://daringfireball.net/2024/05/spotify_car_brick.

The EU wasn't forcing Apple to do anything in 2008. They're forcing them now, based on the fact that a smartphone (either iPhone or Android) has become a key enabler of modern life. It's literally harder to live without one. If spotify's dumb car thing (or an Xbox/PlayStation, etc) ever became a crucial tool in day-to-day life, then you bet the EU would force that too. But they won't because they're not that _kind_ of thing.

"Hey, what's a good name for our company that makes switches?"

"ANU?"

"Yeah, sounds good! Let's buy the domain for our website!"

This was bound to happen with Apple giving SwiftUI such overlapping branding with the Swift language. Pity that SwiftUI the framework doesn’t live up to the Swift the language. #swift #swiftui

PSA: I upgraded to the iOS 17 public beta and the autocomplete when typing text is way way better 👍
Otherwise I can’t really tell the difference from 16, it’s stable and everything working well

RT: this looks like an awesome lineup, and if I were in Wellington I’d be there!

This is your periodic reminder that 10 years ago an audiophile forum started debating which versions of memcpy had the highest sound quality.

And that C++ new sounds better than malloc.

Earthquake, here in Hamilton #eqnz

Ivory looks cool and all, but $30 recurring annually is too expensive for me, for something I use for fun. I miss the old days where you could just buy an app and not have to worry about recurring billing forever

PSA: N95/equivalent masks work very well at stopping hayfever. This is obvious if you think about it, but perhaps like me you may not have.

It’s been awful this year, so 3 days ago I decided to wear a mask outside for 2 days in a row. Had very minimal hayfever, it was great. Today I decided to not wear a mask just to see the difference (maybe pollen had died down etc) but nope, hayfever is back with a vengeance. Will mask up next time!
