which is better

how'd I manage to fuck that up so badly

I think I figured out the problem causing ./update_docs.sh to segfault

it's build tree pollution from one of the other platforms ./build.sh runs for causing ./build_dev.sh to make a faulty shared library

I need to figure out how to make scons not fuck it up like that

I could probably steal something from Godot's scons implementation because I think the object files have longer names there

alright monday game dev time

ERROR: Unable to start the timer because it's not inside the scene tree. Either add it or set autostart to true.
   at: start (scene/main/timer.cpp:120)

did some refactoring yesterday and now my game outputs this

and I'm not sure how that's possible

the fact that I'm able to be alive at all with this financial situation is privilege

(it's between $500 and $600 for 10+ years of game dev work)

should I put up a page that shows how much money I've made in my game development career

guy with eighty thousand games in Steam: "why is it using a lot of memory?"

or maybe three times? it depends on what's at the top of that wire

it isn't even the player character clipping out of bounds to be nice in this one and it happens TWICE IN A ROW

soulframe also gets to one-up warframe's new boundary-break-into-kindness before it's even released with this masterpiece

Soulframe is a much younger game but it has way more of those out of bounds kindness moments

I'm excited that we're going to Tau but I'm more excited that we're getting the lotus beetle scene which means someone gets to clip out of bounds to be nice to someone else again

my favorite moments in Warframe are when someone boundary breaks to be nice to someone in a scene they weren't part of

like in The Sacrifice when

Umbra: (breathing, growling)
Operator: You have relived this moment countless times. But our minds are linked now. We'll face this together.
Operator: This poison he's given you, it has taken your will away. You are a victim as much as your son.
Ballas: Sorry, Isaah. The time has come...
Operator: We are together.
Isaah: I... am honored... to be your son.
Operator: Ballas did this, not you.
Ballas (in Transference): Don't worry, old friend. I'm not going to kill your boy...
Ballas (out loud): You are.
Isaah: Father? Father!
Umbra: (howling)

does being visited by The Indifference count as a child duplication glitch because I don't think I have the energy to type out silly descriptions for all the people that applies to

they've done it with a colony ship full of nonbinary soon-to-orphans and with an impossible boy with impossible parents

warframe loves child duplication glitches

can they make a kind of pornography where it's just people hanging out and they skip the sex part and only do the caring about each other part

the sex parts of the pornography do literally nothing for me but the actors subtly making sure each other are okay is okay I guess

I don't see any differences in the code, hmm
