Why is the News app suddenly sending me notifications late at night to let me know that the daily puzzles have been published? This is exactly the kind of useless marketing notification that is supposed to be forbidden in the App Store policy.
Apple — get your shit together.
Really thrilled to just notice that my Sony AV Receiver has been reporting in regularly to Google with usage data and whatnot with no way to opt out and no clear user consent.
Google: is it really fucking necessary to profile the shit out of everything via every scummy way you can conceive of? It’s not like you’re serving useful ads to me anyway.
R.I.P. Margaret Hamilton.
When the person typing your program has no idea how to spell "Shofar" (a type of ceremonial horn):
@siracusa Where did you end up at the end of Marathon Season 2?
Pretty happy that I got to level 127, cradle 69, VIP in all factions (but not all contracts completed).
While Apple is sunsetting Rosetta, I’d hope that the silicon support remains for VMs to continue to take advantage of across more generations of Apple Silicon.
Dear Meta, rating Community Notes isn’t nearly as helpful as offering an option to say the original post is propagandistic trash and should just be deleted.
Just got a Brother industrial label printer (because it can hold the heat shrink tubing cartridges).
It's the latest model, first released 2 years ago. Charges with a USB-C connector.
Guess what doesn't work? Charging it with a real USB-C cable from a conforming Anker charger. They cheaped out on the $0.02 resistors to make it conforming.
I expected better from Brother at this price point. Especially because they stopped including the AC adapter with this updated model.
American politics: greedy ghouls that want to own slaves vs. people who still feel a slight twinge of guilt when they're fucking people over.
How do I opt out of brokers blaming AI for the bad decisions they're solely responsible for in the next crash?
Based on its own analysis, Claude used up 25% of a Max 20x plan last week just polling for long-running job completion.
After a short time, the context isn't in the KV cache, so the entire context is reprocessed.
Let's see how long it takes it to ignore a durable (CLAUDE.md) rule to never poll and always use backgrounded agents or monitors.
I can only wear this shirt one day a year, but it sure makes me smile to do so. https://music.apple.com/us/album/september/1456444801?i=1456444818
Missing tools received, repair completed, tools returned two business days after receipt. Now I have to argue with the brick wall for the $1900 "non-return fee" to be refunded.
The display adhesive gasket didn’t exactly fit the alignment tray so I ended up using a third-party adhesive from Amazon, which naturally was not exactly the correct shape despite claiming exact model compatibility. It did apply easier than the Apple one.
New display paired, all diagnostics pass.
Would not repeat. 👎
Dear Hollywood, free movie idea:
RICKLES.
The repair procedure manual demands that you install Apple Service Utility on a Mac and connect to the Heated Display Fixture via a USB-B connection to perform a firmware update.
For whatever reason, this specific downloadable updater demands the OS be Tahoe, although Apple Service Utility runs fine on Sequoia.
Note that all of this is impossible because the USB-B connector on the fixture has a Panduit USB-B lockout plug stuck in it and Panduit’s special removal tool is not supplied.
🤡👞
Continuing this terrible customer experience, their system just decided to bill me the full cost of the rental tool kit for non-return on the original dates despite them sending me the missing parts but those missing parts not even having arrived yet.
The Self-Service Repair program is am embarrassment to Apple's brand and clearly needs realignment.
OCD: The Game
Did brigading by 4chan/Reddit bring this into existence?
And today's [possible gaslighting] answer: “The gripping pads do not belong to the kit and were listed incorrectly on the flyer per Apple.”
Really? Apple's carefully-produced parts inventory sheet has a mistake and they knew but didn't just print new sheets with the correction and instead take a week of random gaslighting attempts to cover for it? 🤷♂️
