I'm starting to believe that AI companies are yoloying towards super intelligence, with the belief it's a superpower the first to reach it will control.

From this perspective, they can sacrifice money, environment, and who knows what else as long as nobody figures it out before their win.

They looka lot like a cult.

Very pleasantly surprised by the recent Matlock TV series. I was expecting the run of the mill gender swapping legacy reboot and it's nothing like that. The premise is interesting, the script is strong, and Kathy Bates pulls me into her scenes with incredible acting. I guess you might dislike it if you expect the classic Matlock experience; I liked the old series and I like this one as well, for different reasons.

Some amazing TV series, mostly thriller/ dramas:

The leftovers
Sharp objects
Midnight mass

I can imagine a sci-fi setting in which AI tokens are used as money.

If you’ve got young kids, I can definitely recommend Margaret and the Moon, an illustrated story about how Margaret Hamilton worked on the lunar landings.

May her memory live on in story and song.

So here's a dilemma: capitalism is in sync with people's desire for improving their lives, but infinite growth is impossible. Am I missing something?

I feel like I just live in a continuous AI nonsense headache. Bill Gates recently called AI the most dangerous thing humans have ever gone near. He said this on planet Earth in the year of our Lord 2026. It's been a year of fires, floods, famine, really endless disaster. He said this against a backdrop of global warming, and even, if you can remember it, the ever present threat of nuclear weapon armageddon.

All the money in the world, but...

YouTube on my TV starts with subtitles, then forgets it had subtitles on, and I need to turn it on every time I restart the app.

I am fascinated by stories in which banks and other financial institutions had no idea where their money was.

The last one I found is an HBO documentary called "Breaking the bank" about a trader that has exposed Société Générale to the amount of €50 billions.

If I were to lose one line of code, someone would find out quickly and complain.

But banks can apparently misplace their money, although they will find you if you paid €1 less.

It's a fascinating dichotomy, as I peek into their world.

I loved The Gentlemen series. Witty, unexpected, fun.

Until second half of season 2, when it took a wild turn from comedy to full on thriller. Not happy with it by the end.
