Give me peace, at least for a day. I'm tired, boss.

Not sure if it's worth anything to anyone, but I made the Zine sources of my website public.

Powell's and Gregson-Williams' Chicken Run is peak movie soundtrack. You just can't beat a full orchestra paired with a choir that is equipped with kazoos. You read that right. KAZOOS!

It turns out the Aerc mail client really works best paired with Maildir (with e.g. mbsync) and a Sendmail-compatible tool (like msmtp). The built-in IMAP and SMTP I/O is... troublesome.

Has the Google Maps' map renderer always been this unreadable and I was just used to it? Like, I open the app and I have no idea what I'm looking at - missing roads, missing buildings, town squares just looking like regular roads... what is this?

Finally converted my work machine to NixOS. I don't think I can ever look back. If I ever change distros, it'll have to be something declarative again.

I might be taking up a new hobby. Now we wait a week.

LLMs really are quite the booster to incompetent people's self-confidence, aren't they?

Holy shadow bias! I think they might have focused on "fixing" the wrong thing. Well, good thing I haven't been particularly interested in any recent AAA titles for a while. This all looks like hot garbage.

Just read this 2015 piece by @qntm.org on why abolishing time zones is a terrible idea, and it's brilliant. Not because it argues against them, but because it just follows the logic through. By the end you've watched the proposal quietly collapse under its own weight.

> When legality is used as a substitute for a value judgment, the question that actually matters gets buried in the footnotes of a law it has already outgrown.

Here's a reminder to NEVER use blur effects to hide sensitive data from images. They are generally reversible, so people can undo the blur.

If you absolutely have to have a blur because it looks nice, replace the data with garbage first.
