Patched my PHP within minutes of the update being released; super-smooth with no problems.

With most contrast checkers, you find out a colour combination fails... aaand then you’re on your own.

This Hue Shall Pass works out the smallest change that would make it pass. Use the luminance sliders or click the wand, preview the before and after, and apply it. You can test your whole palette at once and adjust lightness until every pairing you need works.

Here’s a one-minute look at how it works👇

It’s free, it's still in beta and we're keen to hear what you think http://thishueshallpass.clearleft.com/?utm_source=CL_%20Mastodon%20video&utm_medium=CL_Mastodon&utm_campaign=CL_HSP

This year’s FFConf is shaping up to be genuinely unmissable.

I look forward to the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition every year. The images are always stunning, and the stories they tell even more so.

@Clearleft had the pleasure of designing the WPY website – it remains one of our favourite ever projects.

If we look at a few decades of web performance, what technologies and techniques worked, what didn’t, what made the most difference, what has stood the test of time? Making a fast website is challenging enough; keeping a website fast is harder!

Most organisations want accessible websites, but their colour palettes weren't built with accessibility in mind.

Plenty of contrast checkers flag the problems, but we couldn't find one that also helps you fix them.

So we made one ourselves. Introducing ✨This hue shall pass✨ https://thishueshallpass.clearleft.com/?utm_source=CL_HSP%20Mastodon&utm_medium=CL_MD&utm_campaign=CL_HSP

We're pretty darn proud of this one, go give it a go and share it around your teams. It's in beta so tell us what you'd change in the comments, along with a little commotion for the name pun 👌

It took a little while, but my petition has finally been published on the UK Parliament petitions website! 🎉

𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗨𝗞 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀

For people experiencing data poverty, accessing essential government services can come with a very real cost.

Whether someone is claiming benefits, accessing health services, looking for work, finding safety advice, or simply trying to understand their rights. I don’t believe they should have to pay for mobile data to access public services they have already helped fund through taxation.

The petition calls for UK Government websites and online services to be zero-rated, meaning they would not use a person’s mobile data allowance or require them to have paid data available.

If you agree that public services should be 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, please consider signing and sharing the petition. Every signature helps! 🙏

BTW, hat tip to @adactio.com for pointing me to many of the articles I’ve been sharing. His RSS feed of links has always been great source, and it was one of the things I tried to catch up on this weekend while I was sick. https://adactio.com/links http://adactio.com
