I mean, y’all’re the ones who decided to serve anything other than HTML files, don’t look at me

Ok now we’re getting somewhere

Cry me a river of recipe blogger tears while I play a violin the size of a hydrogen atom. Do you hear yourself??? “The problem is that converting a recipe into easy-to-follow instructions in Apple’s own format also strips it of its context” ISN’T IT WONDERFUL

Look, I am a Jewish person whose replies were full of GIFs of people cocking rifles when I deleted my Twitter account, but I understand that the entire internet is a cesspool, and so I don’t get exercised about the social politics of it.

It’s the *technological* politics that have always made me mad enough to post, and in the fight for the open web, you’re either with us or you’re against us, bro. You want to use the most closed, link-hostile technologies available to you? Then go fuck off.

It’s the latter part that really irritates me. A “website person” who uses 𝕏 is self-evidently full of shit. If your excuse for using 𝕏 is “that’s where all the tech discourse happens,” you’re not just *socially* identifying as a fascist, you’re *technologically* identifying as one.

Don’t write wimpy posts about people who use X. Tell the truth. Say that people who crave viral attention so badly that they’ll tolerate violence, hatred, propaganda, and — especially in the case of self-proclaimed technologists — oppressive, anti-network, and fundamentally subpar technology have a personality disorder that should exclude them from influence over any person, and be done with them.

HomeView is not a good name, so I hope Gurman got punked with it

I am one 32GB high-endurance microSD card away from a working Macintosh SE on my desk.

But hey, now I can prove that there is not a single line of non-vanilla JavaScript, nor any line of JavaScript that doesn’t fall back to a successful reload if JavaScript is not available

I haven’t been able to update my sites in a month because I am Scottish-coastlining a refactor that significant, which of course I decided to attempt because no one reads the sites

Okay, I just had my first grade-A magical moment with Apple Intelligence.

I hit the 🧩 extension button in the Safari bar to see if I could easily browse the App Store for an X > XCancel extension, but the most convenient option was “Describe Extension,” so I decided to try that. The Siri Shortcuts interface came up, and I typed, “Redirect all x.com links to xcancel.com,” and it went *think think think… done*, and now Safari just does that on every device.

Years ago, my wife called my attention to the fact that I have this curse where restaurants are always out of the one thing I want on the menu. I guess I must always naturally gravitate towards the thing that management doesn’t understand is good, so they don’t stock it up and are always disappointing me and my fellow cursed ones.

I just realized this curse also extends to Apple automation features.

I bet Tim Cook’s calculus on the lawsuit was just, “Which choice will get OpenAI to incinerate money faster, letting them make Jony Ive-designed hardware or making them pay lawyers?” and now that all the design is done, the answer just flipped

“Oh, sweet. This image is a .webp file,” said no one ever.

My LLM programming prompting technique has evolved from “go” to “Why did you stop?”

“1.0” is as elusive as Shangri-La

I beg people who are bemoaning the death of the web to do literally anything on the web

Personally I will just keep making websites that don’t require the largesse of giant technology companies to survive
