Just read the best answer to a stupid ice breaker question someone was asked at work.
Q: What kitchen appliance would you be?
A: A slow cooker. Leave it alone for 8 hours and it just gets on and does the job.

I wrote 'Frozen bears' on the shopping list.
At least, that's what it looks like.
'Tis that time of the week when I order the groceries and do the menu plan, bearing in mind the old adage that "no plan survives contact with the enemy".
"The classic self-help book, 'How to Make Millions Through Magical Mind Control' by Archmage Midas Goldfinger could once be found on every would-be-wizard’s bookshelf.
These days, of course, it has been largely superseded by 'Minted: Magical Mind Control for Trillionaires'. However, it's always worth re-visiting the OG volume that began this ever-expanding genre.
Just for laughs, of course. Most attempts to follow 'the programme' end in flatulence and spontaneous combustion."
I can't even being to work out how to use half of these apps
I want to build a small, friendly community that would be designed for writers (yes, I know - but it would be different, I promise. More about what it's like to be a writer than how to do it).
The first question is - what's the best home for it? Discord is easy, in some ways, but maybe not what people would choose.
So, in an ideal world, where would you find your hangout?
If you'd like to hear more about it, leave a comment! Boosts welcome.
"In these days of soaring rents and shrinking apartments, many witches despair of ever finding a suitably compact familiar. After all, there's only so much you can do with a Hissing Cockroach or a Giant Land Snail.
As a breeder of tiny, intelligent desk weasels, Neve Lisa Mustelid believes she has the solution. In her book, 'How to Train Your Desk Weasel', she explains how to get the best from your new adoption, which, at the very least, can be trained to bite on command."
I've had it mind for a while that I would like to do a daily post from a fictional world. I never really honed that into an idea, but this morning I think I found something that might work.
[Bearing in mind my follow-through on these kinds of things is dismal.]
The first post is in the works, but I don't know how to (succinctly) mark it as fictional.
One long thread? Hashtag? (if a hashtag, which one?)
I could append an image that explains it, I suppose.
“I was stuck in traffic when a road sign set me dreaming. If the places on it were people, what would they be like? Could Leigh Delamere be anything but the glamorous heiress to a biscuit-making fortune?”
Hilarious article on British place names.

I have a few examples scattered about in my notes. This is one of them:

I've been a bit obsessed of late with short stories that are written in the form of recipes.
I couldn't think of an idea to write in that format, but this morning I came up with one...
Genius that I am, I have added a local newspaper to my Cosy Library story, which comes out once a week. So now I have to do a calendar so I remember what happened on what day. 😭
I had a thought this morning about a library without any kind of organisation - basically a giant warehouse stuffed to the gunnels with unstable piles of books.
And being a librarian there is more about rock climbing/spelunking to get to the books at the bottom.
And I think it's basically just a metaphor for AI slop - books printed willy-nilly, all firing out of a slot onto a pile, burying anything decent in a pile of wasted paper.

What is considered completely normal in your story's world that would seem bizarre to us?
Nothing, really. I mean, the Library is sentient, the books fly and people keep small dragons as house pets. But nothing really bizarre 😂
#WordWeavers 5/10: If your characters had to swap lives for a week, which pairing would create the most chaos?
Probably Angie and Ellie. Ellie’s cooking skills just aren’t up to running a café. And while Angie’s customer service skills would stand her in good stead as a librarian, but as she has no connection to the Library, the books wouldn’t trust her.
"The Kindness Mob is just one step. But kindness, for everyone, always, feels like a good place to start."
Question I encountered on Instagram, which I thought was intriguing:
If you owned a small shop that only opened after dark, what would you sell?
(My first thought was night lights, but I am apparently not feeling very whimsical today. I will work on that!)
“An exceptionally preserved fossilized tooth belonging to an ancient Pacific mastodon (Mammut pacificus) was recently discovered in a Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) preserve in San Mateo County.
The fossil was discovered in a creek bed by geomorphologist Brigid Lynch. What initially appeared to be an oddly shaped rock was later confirmed by palaeontologists to be an intact, adult Pacific mastodon molar.”
