And now, a question I'm sure will arouse no debate (!): sewing machine and overlocker suggestions please (available in UK).
For the sewing machine: I am a beginner but want a machine that will carry me through (not just a beginner cheapie I replace in a year or two). So long-lived, trouble-free, with enough features to see me through beyond basic sewing.
It needs to be robust. I plan on garment making mainly, including denim. I also want to be able to run up some household items like curtains and cushions. It must cope (and take a waking foot) with those heavier jobs.
I'm neutral on computerised vs. mechanical. I can see the sense of avoiding an element that end the machine if it fails, but I'm not opposed to the tech either.
I'd like to keep it under £500 but looking at prices I think I'm going to need to pay up to £600.
For overlocker: inexpensive but decent, not too hard to thread and ideally handles denim (rough budget £240-£450).
Thoughts, pls?
