Found today while visiting Edmonton,
All Y'all know what's up

I'm a bit relentless when searching out a root cause. Short story:

Our Azure website was slow to startup. Azure Insights showed a weird timeout to an internal server I've never dealt with before. The call (stack trace) was coming from inside SQL Server's connection open method. It wasn't huge, it only affected the first request after the app went sleepy. But it sullied the logs and some early morning users got the short end of the stick.
The problem would not replicate running under windows. So I craft up the minimal project to replicate and put it though it's paces. It would replicate under Docker desktop.
Isolated it to the SSL connection for the SQL Server. Asking SQL to not check certs doesn't mean that certs won't get checked. Just that the results will be ignored.
The cert (Corp self signed) had a revocation list configured that picked up the connection, but... Nothing. Just kept it open until the client gave up. (30s, an early give away)
Got Infra to bounce the service & All Good!

Projects Cont.

• Running the Home Lab (3+ Node Proxmox cluster, PiHole DNS, NextCloud, JellyFin, Forgejo Git, Internal web, Nginx proxy, NAS, Immich photos, and KeyCloak auth)
• Automated maintenance of the same with Ansible,
• The bespoke Static Site compilation tool I've crafted/use to turn my Markdown and template files into a website
• Exploring The Dragon Book (red) with a Quixotic plan to craft up something that compiles WASM with the features I want...
• A "Learn Computer Programming" site/tool that incorporates a virtual cpu/machine that grows along with the lessons (including a virtual hardware level inspection and tracing tooling.

I like to try to do things to learn how they work: Try making a game engine, come to a problem, research learn the solutions others have built and documented, implement and refine. Tools learned this way can be applied across domains in any language and environment that allows for it.

Edit-to-add: I like coding, problem solving, hunting for root-causes, enabling all levels to better understand and use their systems. I do this now, but I need to feed my family, thus payment is the exchange. I'd do it for free if I could.

On my own time projects:

• Creating a console TUI/library to use Skylanders Portal to read & Adjust/Alter Figs/1

Nothing like Task Avoidance to get other slightly less palatable tasks done!

Me: I need to paper work and a ton of reading I'm not really interested in.
Also Me: TIME TO CLEAN THE FRIDGE!

Me: OK I feel better about that, now I NEED to do that reading & paper work.
Also Me: NO ONE CAN WORK AT THIS DESK IN IT'S CURRENT STATE!

GOTO 10

It's been years since I played this with anyone.

Finally got to play it with the Fam. Well received.
My kind hearted son had issues with triggering the first strike. After a break for snack he was all in again.

I've fond memories of playing this with two different groups of friends that are no longer in my life, some passed, some moved on and some... Well, differences of opinions regarding who deserves human rights.

Bittersweet I guess. But good in many ways.

Max being HIS normal self...
This is his "being cute" phase.
Later he will yell at me to clean his box immediately after he's done his thing (his version of flushing, or "Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!")

Here's the document release you were waiting for today!

So.. was researching wasm stuff and discovered MoonBit. A language /tool chain / cloud platform? focused on creating wasm outputs.

Looking at the features on the scream sheet page, and wham AI... Built in. A core feature of the platform and it's editors.

Ok, hard pass.

Why the hell are people so against actually knowing and learning how the code works? (This includes learning how it doesn't work and the errors to expect. Solving the problems that come up is part of understanding the creations you make. Being able to answer "why" something was coded one way and not another. The AI things being pushed on us, can't answer that. Or if they claim to... Trust that it's bullshit.)

A "good" #archlinux morning.
Been away for a week, didn't pay too much attention to my morning `aura -Syu` and the reboot after went to... The windows drive I've not booted to in months.
Crud EFI/grub was hosed despite the hook.
Ok, no can find archboot USB drive. Craft up another on my other device (I don't want that first windows to try to do anything crazy like update).
USB boot; mount root; archroot; reinstall/mkconfig grub; validate...
Boot success!
A PITA sometimes, but I know I can fix it
