If you're in Ottawa please go vote for our next Mayor.

#ottawa

So which mayor candidate are left wing people in Ottawa voting for?

It's hard to tell off a glance as they all seem to say mostly the same thing.

"Public transport, housing, affordability."

I'll be looking at their platforms closer to election day, but I'm curious what you're all thinking.

The only thing I know for sure is I hope we don't get Mark again.

Georgia is a big sweetie.

Old and frail now, but loves her walks still. She's always happy anyway and wants lots of attention.

She was an absolute hurricane of energy as a puppy.

I initially went to DR 12 years ago now. 😬

Dirty Rectangles is tonight at 8pm and Ottawa Game Makers is tomorrow night at 6:30pm.

Check these out if you're an indie game dev in Ottawa.

The Beaverton strikes again.

Tap with your Interact Debit card instead of your Visa.

Visa takes 2.5% of every transaction and are American.

Interact is Canadian.

Maybe we need to make a Buy Canadian guide for non tech savvy people and put them up as posters where possible.

A guide to buying more Canadian / less American

In Person Groceries ➡️ Go basically anywhere but Walmart. Look for “Product of Canada” on packaging. “Made in Canada” is 2nd best. If the company is Canadian that is the 3rd best. For produce with no packaging ask someone at the store or use one of the buy Canadian apps.

Instacart (ordering groceries) ➡️ Voila (and use the shop local option in the app when possible)

A thread. 1/4

It's tantalizing to want more content to consume from your favourite entertainers everyday, but the only new content that can be produced by an individual every single day is drama and chatting without something to say.

If that's not the content you want to consume, find something else worth doing with that time instead.

In fact, you should be wary of anyone that tries to produce content every single day.

The thing about Wahammer is I don't really subscribe to that level of nihilism. That level of everyone being evil isn't what put in my dark fantasy settings.

However I understand that the Warhammer devs were solving the problem of making lore for a war game so they could justify anyone being at war with anyone else.

Applying Warhammer's level of evil to factions in your world building though can be useful as a way of seeing what a villain sub-faction of them might look like.

My friends got into Darktide, and it's pretty familiar ground as I played their previous games and left for dead 1&2.

I became a Zealot and centralized my entire build around the flamethrower. Burn the heretics. Mwhahaha.

Anyway they were pretty ahead but I've caught up quickly to level 30. It's pretty fun.

For my birthday yesterday, I chilled out and finished replaying Pokémon Shield.

Just became the champion exclusively using fire types for the whole game, and abusing weather effects that buff fire Pokémon.

A grounded narrative cares about comparisons.

In a low-magic world, the fantasy elements you add seem fantastical by comparison.

When you spend time in the Shire at the start of LOTR, it makes Frodo's break from his ordinary life have impact.

In dark fantasy, acts of genuine kindness are more heroic and courageous.

In my worldbuilding, when I take a fantasy element to its logical conclusion, I learn the truths of the people living there that are worth telling.
