Sweet peas in the sunny garden and Sweet Pea in the sunny laundry basket #bloomscrolling #CatsOfMastodon

I have had many bungled attempts at pronouncing my name over my lifetime but yesterday a 6yo produced a new top tier attempt - French Korea.
Gold.

More cat crimes. If she fits, she sits #caturday

Gorgeous Sunday walk at Palmerville #Canberra. Puddles more popular with some members of the family than others #DogsOfMastodon

If you’re only going to manage one film at the cinema every few years The Odyssey is a pretty solid choice. As someone who studied Latin & classics and worked in cinemas for years it ticked my boxes!

As of this afternoon the kids and I are some of Australia’s newest citizens 🎉🥳🎉 we are very lucky to come from a safe country we could return to but given my children are growing up here I feel pretty good that they can 100% for definite stay #Australia

I took a rare (unheard of) break from family life and visited the south coast with two friends of mine. Incredible! Independently our kids had given us stuffed toys to accompany us on our adventures so you better believe we were three middle aged women at the beach in winter in our swimmers arranging toys and buckets for photos

Brombær would like me to acknowledge what a very good dog she is. And yes, she is a very good dog. #DogsOfMastodon

So, parenting teenagers is a whole thing huh?

Today was my birthday and for an unexpected birthday bonus I was able to watch the #Canberra Symphony #Orchestra’s The Music of Hans Zimmer. They are presenting it to Canberra primary schools and I was supporting my 11yo on the excursion. Fabulous experience that we frankly couldn’t afford as a family. I’ve never been to a specifically orchestral performance and they pitched it in such an accessible way. Long live the arts!

And an old fave #RootsManuva with Too Cold

“It's money that makes money makes people act funny
Civilized men start to act gunny, gunny”

The 14yo’s commitment to climbing remains unabated. The more things change etc etc

A fail at the National Museum of Australia’s Antartica exhibition. Apparently the phrase ‘meet amazing animals from penguins to sled dogs’ means taxidermied dogs!! I have one distraught 11yo animal lover

A good dog. #DogsOfMastodon

Unpopular opinion but I was underwhelmed by This is how You Lose the Time War.
Prose too flowery. Blue and Red are virtually interchangeable as narrators. Plot structure is overly repetitive. Sci fi elements underwhelming. It wasn’t bad but with so much hype I expected much more @bookstodon

It might look like she’s appreciating the flowers but she was mostly interested in a bee #bloomscrolling #DogsOfMastodon

Am I happier/unhappier than 2020? I have no fucking idea. Would fairer economic policy make myself and my community happier? Absolutely.
But I suspect people who suffered the most during lockdowns can’t look back at that and remember zoom drinks and quality time and probably a lot of them are also suffering the most now
