I've had this idea for a novel going round in my head for the last couple of days and it won't give up.
Wondering if I should take up NaNoWriMo again next week. Its been easily a decade since I last did them (I did 2 - and never went further than first draft). I once had aspirations of becoming an author, but I was told to "be more realistic" 🙄.
Is NaNo still a thing? Should I bother (with all the shit I've got coming up?)

Oh gosh... Trailer for the new Narnia film just dropped, first time The Magicians Nephew has been done since the BBC series in the 90's (I believe).
I fear I'm getting too old. Watching the trailer, all I could see were "faults". And Jadis looks very solar punk, which... Is a vibe, I guess?
Am I being too much of a purist? Am I turning into the "they can't make Aslan a woman!" crowd (JFC, no reason why not, just... Different)?

Well, I officially completed on my apartment purchase today, so after 11 ish years (?) I once again own my own home.
After my divorce, I never thought I'd be able to own a place again, especially not on my own, so I'm so happy.
Currently, my brain is trying to sabotage me by giving me buyers remorse, but its just nerves and relief at getting this finished. Its been a long 11 months!
I'll go out to celebrate tonight. 🥳🎉🎊
Found a weird bug in the book I'm reading on my kobo:
Chapter 3 ends on page 1489.
Tap/press next page and chapter 4 starts on page 1542. 🤔
Where did those 53 pages go? I've adjusted the font size and regardless of font, it somehow skips about 50 pages! Very weird.
I wouldn't have noticed if Booklsy (my book tracker) hadn't lauded me for reading 70 pages in 20 minutes. I know I'm not that fast! 🤣 I thought I'd entered the last page wrong, but no. Odd.
Oh, damn! Witcher 3 remake *as a free update*! Question is: to I start from scratch, or pickup where I last played (toward the end, I can't remember where)?
Or do I finish Blag Flag first?

Dear gods, what a day! I feel like I was on the move (at my desk) all day. 😮💨
But when I got home (after weekly shop) I got my trombone out for the first time in 2 years (I was too afraid to play it because I didn't want to disturb my neighbours).
It. Was. So. Fun!!
I mean I totally sucked at it (shocker after 2 years not touching it) but it reminded me why I wanted to learn it in the first place.
100% doing it again! Any tips for 'bone players in a flat (I already have a mute).

Musicians of the 'verse, lend me your knowledge:
I want to learn to read music properly. I've been "reading" music for 30 odd years, but I can't tell you what where a G is on a stave. I can work it out eventually (Every Good Boy etc), but not point and tell you (a bit like my math. I can eventually work out what 6x4 is, but not off the batt).
Send me learning resources which are good for people like me, with a bonus if its FOSS, Android based and cheap.

Spent the weekend with my brother. We've been doing up their old car that hes going to lend me now I sold my car. We've put the trim back together, fixed the exhaust, cleaned the AC and upholstery from mould and given her a clean.
She's going for an MOT on Wednesday, and all being well, I can take her home.
I need a name for her: burnt orange Peugeot 208. I'm thinking Amber. But also thinking of Shallan (as she's a ginge).
*sigh* just finished book 3 of the Stormlight Archive: Oathbringer. What a rollercoaster it was! I'm told the next one is worse in a good way.
I don't know if I want to jump straight into Book 4, or have a quick break with a Discworld book. Or even something completely different...
Help me choose?

Its been another rough day at the office. Something has happened to one of our colleagues and we don't know what.
My office played lifeboat to the service desk today (and possibly the rest of the week) and so, obviously, rumours are flying everywhere. Its an uncomfortable situation.
We're hoping everything is OK, but well just have to wait and see how the dice land.
A year ago, I was really upset that I wasnt going to be able to be a dev after my apprenticeship fell through.
Today, seeing all the decent companies I knew fall for AI and anger their userbase, I think I made a lucky escape.
I still whsh I could code, but till the buble bursts and all this nonsense goes away, I'll stick to my new management role, thanks.
I've never been hit with a reality check by a quote from a (fiction) book so hard in my life!
Its from Oathbringer, part of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson and (without spoilers) essentially says that your inner darkness will usually feed off failure/sadness/etc, but can feed off anything if you let it. That's why when things are going well, it will tell you you're fooling yourself, as well as other fallacies.
And its exactly what I've been feeling tonight. 🤯
