Everyone needs to see this and also acknowledge why reverse engineering is a super power.

Nobel winner Paul Krugman, one of the signers, alerted his followers to the most important aspect of the billionaire tax a few months ago.

It's a tax on wealth, not income, and would be one of the world's first, a precedent that could spread and make them pay up worldwide. Thats why they're in such a panic.

Be sure to vote "yes" on 40, and "no" on 41 and 42, red herrings designed to neutralize 40.

As a #Utahn who doesn't live in Eagle Mountain, but also didn't get a ballot in the mail for the 2026 primaries, I can assure you, I was still able to go vote early on site. This is not evidence of voter fraud.

Also, if you do choose to return your ballot by mail instead of a drop box, you can login to track your ballot to see if the clerk has processed on the website here: https://vote.utah.gov/track-my-ballot/

Voting went from a real inconvenience to easy after 2016 in #Utah, and I really appreciate the change. Too many people were kept from voting before.

Hard not to see the pattern.

Holy shit this is life changing

The Republican Party has done a great job with creating jobs, most specifically for unqualified people of questionable integrity.

NPS: Grand Canyon National Park to Close Overnight Hotel Accommodations Beginning August 31

"...Grand Canyon National Park will implement Stage 4 water restrictions on the South Rim beginning at noon on August 31 in response to the significant flash flooding that occurred along Bright Angel Canyon on August 29.

The flooding caused extensive damage to infrastructure in the inner canyon, including the Transcanyon Waterline, which supplies water from the canyon for use in the park. The waterline is currently not operational, leaving the park with limited water reserves and requiring significant water conservation measures to ensure available supplies can be maintained. ..."

BREAKING: Federal judge blocks Trump administration’s new U.S. Postal Service rule setting new restrictions for mail ballots.

Judge Talwani’s TRO lasts for 14 days while she considers the preliminary injunction requests, with a hearing set for Sept. 3.

Do you have thousands and thousands of dollars lying around AND you're interested in learning RF? No? Me neither! Robert Fennis developed "the IKEA of FEM solvers for E&M", which sounds just great. Emerge is a Python based set of tooling that makes it possible to build out RF and controlled impedance simulations.

Listen in to how he dug into assembling matrices and plumbing the dark corners of Maxwell's Equations to make this magic available free and open source.

First, a company called “Hugging Face” said it had “resorted to [an open source] Chinese AI model to battle a fully autonomous cyberattack bc U.S. model guardrails stymied its defense”

Then we’re told that the attack was perpetrated by a rogue “OpenAI test model” that had “escaped”. Carry on. 1/

This is an example of how to turn the tables on the white nationalists. Video in comments.

8 yr old Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The butterflies he had tended as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. When he released them into the wild, they would fly right back to him. Was it possible they actually remembered him?

Jo wrote a letter to an entomologist at Georgetown University, Dr. Martha Weiss. He asked if she could help him design an experiment, and she said yes.

Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70% of them still avoided the scent. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis, yet the memory survived anyway. Then he bred them.

The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to lavender their grandmother had been taught to fear.

Jo presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10.

A second grader wrote a letter to a Georgetown professor, and together they found evidence that butterflies can pass memories down through generations.

The second that the last of the men who fought nazis were gone you brought back nazis. You are too stupid to even realize what you have done. Gestapo and concentration camps on american soil. Shameful.

@ai6yr there were so many fun things that they did with vinyl that got lost.

Gatefold album covers with amazing art. Picture discs. Tracks that merged into each other without any audible break. Multiple / random versions on the same disc (via double or even triple spiral). Concept albums where people really thought about not just which tracks to include, but what order. Setting things to the wrong speed so even boring singles like Pipes of Peace were fun to listen to.

Digital music is so convenient that I rarely bother to listen to it. Vinyl takes up too much space to store or play. CD is a nice balance for me. But sometimes I do miss the quirky stuff.
