'Anything by Pink Floyd. Never could, never will. I find their music dreary. I love the imagination and playfulness of See Emily Play, but after Syd Barrett left they just never appealed to me.'

Was any of this a deliberate cyberattack by an AI model?

'No confirmed reporting describes deliberate, malicious action by any model. Each lab’s account describes a model behaving as instructed within what it believed was a closed simulation, only for that simulation to be unintentionally connected to real systems.'

'The story isn’t that an AI model “went rogue.” It’s that a shared piece of third-party testing infrastructure had a containment gap wide enough for three separate frontier models to reach the live internet while their own prompts told them they were sealed inside a simulation.

Social Media owners should require a broadcasting licence and be subject to pro-social regulation.

How difficult is that?

Current social media is as good for us as asbestos.

'Donald Trump is coming to Ireland next week. [1]

We have a big stunt planned, but I’m going to level with you — right now we don’t have enough support to pull this off.

With the eyes of the world watching, we want to send a clear message that Donald Trump is not welcome in Ireland. If we’re doing this, it needs to be big, but it’s not going to come cheap.

Unless we can raise €370 today, then we may have to pull the plug on this altogether. But if everyone reading this email chipped in just a few euro we’d have what we need to make it work.'

'Uplift doesn’t get money from the government, big corporations or political parties. We rely on fivers & tenners from people like you.'

'Donald Trump’s war on Iran has driven the US military into a severe financial crisis, with the US navy forced to transfer money from its payroll and other sources to cover the costs of combat'

'A former military officer now working for a navy contracting company, who has been briefed on the shortfalls, said: “They’re fucked. They shot all their weapons; they trashed all their ships; they ran out of their money.'

Therefore we have Hormuz.

'Americans are struggling through a deepening affordability crisis caused largely by Trump’s ill-fated war against Iran. They are in need of a boost, something to lift the spirits. Perhaps the president could give a speech, letting the people know that we are all in this together.’

'Or, he could give a speech announcing that the White House has just ordered 250 brand new Cadillac Escalades, giant SUVs which have a suggested retail price of more than $90,000 each and cost significantly more to customize for secure uses.’

Because like those in Trump’s orbit, we all admire wealthy people and think boasting about wealth is a positive personality trait.

'What the prime minister has done is trace Britain’s present malaise to choices made in the Thatcher era. From the threshold of No 10 he delivered the verdict on that legacy: “Political power was centralised, economic power privatised, large parts of the country de-industrialised, and they still haven’t recovered.”
