#Equinox whether Northern or Southern hemi is a time of balance. A time when day & night are of equal length.
Especially in this climate of fascism, patriarchy, oligarchy, balance *does not* mean staying still & calm. Balance means learning to ride the discordant energy and using it to keep moving & creating.
#solarpunk is doing it together. (Even if we are geographically alone, know that our work builds with the work of others).
And feeling #hope & #joy in waves.
Dance the energy!
...This jibes with workshops I offer that help us center, connect & create the futures we need. I often mention Joanna Macy's notion of the Great Turning--a time to find the way out into a thriving, interconnected, just, regenerative future. I see it as a horizontal vortex tightening around us, ripping us apart from one another. Like the spiral Naomi Klein describes in the article.
#solarpunk helps us navigate, harness the energy, and create together...to harness #hope. The radical kind!
Another quote: [in a spiral], "you’re going round, but you’re not going to the same place. If the spiral is pointing down, it’s deeper, it’s tighter, it’s carrying more velocity, it’s carrying more force, it’s carrying more heat, it’s carrying more violence.” The image is at once poetic and extremely sobering. She proffers a brief morale boost, like someone handing you a slice of orange on your way into a war zone. “You can flip a spiral–it goes outwards, it’s the spiral of the universe.”"

"But the truly terrifying bit is the bridging section, on tech billionaires. The super-rich have apocalypse fantasies of their own, built not on faith or ideology but on a calm and rational evaluation of how best to maintain their position; they would genuinely rather reign in hell than share in heaven. And they have all the money to make sure they get there."
Starhawk's new website is fantastic! Do you know of her work: #writer #activist #witch?
I'm surprised how many #SpecLit & #solarpunk writers and younger #pagan folx don't. Even if she wasn't a dear friend & mentor for decades, I'd urge you to take a look!
Cool intro video up top, too. Her blog archive brought back herstory and memories--many we'd shared.

UPDATE: ghost didn't work well for me. Few people actually got the newsletter. For now continuing w mchimp till I find something that works! (Sign-up on my site)
ORIGINAL:
Friends, I moved my newsletter from mailchimp to ghost to use the least fascist platform I could find!
Had to manually move my list over. I'll be sending a new newsletter (not the same as my blog posts) by week's end.
#solarpunk #SFF #Witch #fedicoven #WritingCommunity #ClimateCrisis #ClimateFiction #Justice
The Why's and How's of Writing Hopeful Futures! My WriteHive presentation!
👀 Lots of resources included! Plus #solarpunk narrative arc & words from @susankayequinn @TamaraSellman @r_emrys @ana @jacobcoffin @Pheebsdw
What's up with hacker/AI joining our newsletters? I have a flurry of "people" with nonsense names and comments (just random strings of letters) signing up for my newsletter. Can't figure out what they're trying to do...vs all the scam emails about promoting my book clearly trying to get a response from me.
A friend texted that he saw my name in a NY Times article on #solarpunk recently. Nothing showed up for me in a search. Anyone know of this? #writing
Rewilding? Drones? I had many questions for @tkrex about their new book THE WILDCRAFT DRONES. Hope you'll check out our convo. They shared unpublished illustrations with us, too!

Have you seen @renanbernardo.com 's blog, Into the Hyperspace? He interviews amazing, award-winning authors.
I'm flattered to be among them this week! 💙
We spoke of magic in #solarpunk, books I recommend, fun illustrations, & impetus for my novel.

We've changed my Climate Imaginarium workshop to virtual tomorrow due to bad air quality from fossil-fueled climate change (wildfires). 😱 Perhaps some of you would like to join. "Harvesting Our Screams to Energize Our Creative Work" It's 2p ET (US). Sign up here and they'll send you the link: https://luma.com/kdyjqd7a
Irony. And tragedy. Postponing a #Climate workshop due to AQI and smoke levels caused by fossils.
#ClimateDiary (Northeast Turtle Island, NYC area)
I'll be bi-locating next week. Actually, tri-locating!
Offering "Writing Hopeful Futures" workshop at WriteHive annual online con. It's prerecorded (and I love how it turned out, including guest appearances).
As it runs, I'll be taking part in the discord convo, hearing your ideas & answering questions.
AND I'll be at Readercon same weekend. 3 places at once!
Join us? Sun. 12p EDT https://www.writehivecon.org/
anyone want to translate ggl's new terms of service? (can't see without logging in and I'm not interested in doing that)
what content are they now hoovering up and privacy ignoring???
Consider joining us this weekend for Wiscon, the #feminist #SpecLit conference! It's online and you can still register. @WisConSF3 I'm on 3 great panels and hope you'll join us.
I wrote this blog for a particular friend. And it applies to so many situations. Hope you'll take a look.
Perhaps you've heard all the buzz (news segments, magazines...) about the benefits of small talk. I take it a step further, plus apply my witchy lens.
