Yikes! That's some data breach! https://krebsonsecurity.com/2026/09/fbi-probes-service-selling-153m-drivers-licenses/

@JenMsft Did anyone ever see the cool group photo the Microsoft photographer took from that day?

I met @JenMsft in real life for the first time yesterday. She's super nice!

Are you thinking about implementing DANE yet? I want to learn that next. Did it on M365 tenants, but not my Dovecot/Postfix yet. Seems like updating TLSA records every 90 days when Letsencrypt certs change might be rough.

How long should I try to play Death Stranding before it gets good? #GamePass

@tris I don't understand how people couldn't tell that Whatsapp was designed for enshittification from the beginning. Of course, the security isn't going to be good.

ArcaneChat/DeltaChat apk size is way smaller, Element X is ~130MB reactions are not encrypted in Matrix, plus often problems with “unable to decrypt” with the money you need to run a matrix server you can run a lot of chatmail servers, the cost per user is much lower matrix servers hold a lot of metadata, ex. group metadata and state, it is almost impossible to really delete information from the matrix server, the chatmail servers are dumb, know nothing about delta chat groups and all data is volatile, only stored temporarily for multi-device synchronization ArcaneChat/DeltaChat have good multi-device and multi-profile support, IIRC Element only support one profile?

and more, but to be honest I feel lazy to reply because the answer seems so obvious to me, just search a bit, and I am not even touching the part of the proprietary integration server… matrix is on a path to doom

This is what I always say: "It doesn't actually matter how cryptographically secure your end-to-end encryption is when 1 entity controls all ends and can instantly update them whenever they want." https://www.moparisthebest.com/against-silos-signal/

Which part of the Oath of Enlistment do you think Marines in LA will uphold?
"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Remember when the Internet was awesome and your phone wasn't a tracking device?

Wow, kuddos to RustDesk for the default warning on top their website! :clapping:

TeamViewer and other remote software should do this also

"WARNING: YOU MAY BE BEING SCAMMED!
If you are on the phone with someone you DON'T know AND TRUST who has asked you to install RustDesk,
do not install and hang up immediately.
They are likely a scammer trying to steal your money or other private information."

Our societies and governments now largely run on American proprietary big-tech platforms. Many of us want to decrease this dependency, or even end it altogether. Here I wrote up a bunch of things we are doing wrong, and what the open world could do better: https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/what-the-open-world-must-do-better/

Those annoying “consent” cookie pop ups that Big Tech has been using as part of their malicious compliance efforts to convince you that data protection law in the EU is a nuisance?

Turns out they’re illegal.
