This is how the #homeview looks next to a HomePod 1st gen and an iPad mini running #wallflower. Interestingly the display is a lot bigger than I thought!
Got the #visonpro out for that using Apples 3d model from their website, zoomed to 100%, and usually the size is very accurate.
The HomeView for the wall needs an additional Wall Mount, and that is available with a cable, AC wiring or POE (!). Super interesting, but not included. And the way it plugs in seems to be a combination of magnets and USB-C (!!). And those wall mounts seem to be not made by Apple but Schneider Electric (!!!)
This "Apple Home Collection" is also not available in the EU? That's weird, especially considering Schneider as a partner. Or am I just not finding it on Apples german website?
Also where’s their „Home Proximity Manager“ that displays Home devices in the Dynamic Island if you come close to them?
We clearly haven't seen all of what they have.
Do we need to wait for WWDC? Or whenever the LG/Schneider devices ship?
Interesting move here:
Ah, besides the „Watch Face“ there seems to be a full blown Home App on the HomeView:
So, the HomeView has USB-C, so that's a great reason to do a London weekend :-)
Overall: Apple strengthens (or should we say: introduces?) their Home ecosystem, but does not do anything nearly as complex as a bigger screen dashboard such as https://nxtbgthng.com/wallflower could do. I should be very happy :-)
They clearly didn't ship or announce everything in HomeView/homeOS. For example, where are the widgets and live activities that your iPhone could display on the HomeView if you're standing in front of it? It's a macOS feature, but that was clearly made for homeOS and didn’t make the cut.
So anything new for developers?
170 Euro für nen HomePod Mini. Heieiei.
Ok, wow ein AppleTV kostet 350 Euro? Wer kauft das?
HomeView: Hardware looks great. $299 is a great price, too. But it’s as inflexible as an Apple Watch Watchface. No 3rd Party Apps. Home „Face“ is 9 devices max. You decide between calendar/home/clock/weather etc, it doesn’t seem to be too about this. Essentially it’s a screen for Siri and Facetime. There is a LOT of reasons to get an iPad on the wall too. And in the EU you have to, because it's not available here.
The premier iOS developer conference in the Netherlands is back! 🇳🇱📱
Whether you’re deep into advanced SwiftUI architectures, performance tuning, or navigating the latest Apple frameworks, staying ahead requires more than just documentation—it takes community.
That’s why Do iOS is built by developers, for developers.

This looks like a good one for one of Berlin's details-oriented iOS multimedia devs! https://jobs.apple.com/de-de/details/200685888-0399/senior-ios-engineer-creativity-apps?team=SFTWR
‘It’s uncertain exactly what form autonomous AI replication will take. It could be a slow, distributed “digital slime mold,” living on relatively insecure compute. It could also be a powerful cyber model that breaches datacenters at a high pace, or a model that scams people for compute credits.’
This is disheartening to read. I wasn't aware the OpenAI math paper would be so impactful...

Regarding the Danfoss fridge thing doing the rounds in the media - there’s several thousand of them that are directly internet facing.
The username is admin and the password changes every day automatically to.. the current date.
Every single one is like this. You can just log in and change the temperature. Anybody can do it, easily scriptable.
Wow, I’m blown away.
⁃ If Internet is down, the router can just use iPhone Tethering!
⁃ Matter/Thread is fully integrated!
⁃ Custom Icons - Finally!

@gernot I can tell you it’s not even faster if you ARE handing in a build for the Duo. I completely agree, it’s mildly frustrating. I’ve worked multiple night shifts just to get it ready in time, and so far, nothing has happened with my submission. I REALLY hope they are speeding up soon, similar to how they are usually doing it before a new major iOS release.
