“Inside Elon Musk’s $276 Million Midterm Rescue Mission for Republicans

The world’s richest person has quietly become by far the biggest known midterm donor, trying to save Republicans’ Senate majority with some of the largest donations in American political history.”

The Election Crimes of Elon Musk

“A phishing scam masquerading as official election information

In Colorado and Washington, two vote-by-mail states where there is no need to request a ballot, Musk is spreading misinformation and confusion with deceptive, official-looking text messages telling people "your ballot request is in."

The texts ask people to click a link so that Musk's operation can collect their personal information, including their cell phone numbers and email addresses, allowing Musk's America PAC to target them with follow-up messaging ahead of election day.

The texts are just one aspect of the sophisticated digital campaign Musk is running to help Republicans limit the damage in the 2026 midterms.“

“The Alberta Prosperity Project chose the location to accommodate its guests, Republican political strategists from Michigan who helped Donald Trump win the state in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

The American delegation travelled to Calgary to sell them on software developed for Republicans to get out the vote – and how it could be used to wrench Alberta from Confederation.

“They were young Christians. Capable, intelligent people,” Mr. Sylvestre said. “We prayed before we started the meeting.””

Alberta Separatism Fuelled by Russian Networks and US Influencers

A sweeping new report traces how online campaigns are amplifying division inside Canada

“The report’s central finding is stark: Canada’s cognitive sovereignty is being actively targeted by foreign governments, state-aligned media networks, ideological operatives, and profit-driven manipulation systems, all of them pressing on the same fault line at the same time. That fault line is Alberta.”

Not rogue, but malware.

Otherwise, yes.

“Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl also seemed to acknowledge him from the stage. Grohl wore an Iowa Hawkeyes T-shirt during his set, which the music site Consequence called a "not-so-subtle reference" to Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.). He then dedicated "My Hero" to "my new friend Jack."”

Let’s be clear eyed about this. The fact that people don’t want to be seen by their neighbours or on camera as supporting Trump does not mean they won’t vote Republican straight ticket in the #Midterms, and it certainly doesn’t mean they’ll vote for democracy.

Canada Plans Sovereign Broadband Backbone With New Fibre Investment Incentive

“Canada plans to help finance a national broadband backbone spanning the country and providing more direct international connections to Europe and Asia, part of a broader federal push to expand infrastructure under Canadian control.

The proposed backbone would run “coast to coast to coast.” Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the project Tuesday at the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto, describing it as “sovereign” infrastructure with more direct and secure overseas links.”

#MustWatch #MustListen

This is the most important 45 minutes you can spend this week listening or reading any sort of political news or commentary.

The single most important.

Skip the news about whatever Trump and his fascist conspirators said today and listen to #TimothySnyder and #AnneApplebaum on the #USA, #Trump, TechBros, Oligarchs, #ForeignPolicy, #Canada, #InternationalLaw, #InternationalOrder, and #RulesBasedOrder .

And then share it. #Canadians, I’m talking to you too.

Please.

(and PSA, come into my replies to complain about where Snyder has posted it and I will block you.)

“hearing Alberta Premier Danielle Smith argue that the "duty to consult" with First Nations was never meant to “prevent citizens from making their voices heard.” Her statement echoed then U.K. prime minister David Cameron’s insistence that people must “have their say.”

My biggest concern is the lack of alarm from everyday Albertans.”
