in conclusion: i'm pretty sure if you wake up one day and the sky is a magenta and black checkerboard you'll see red cars that look yellow

of course, it's not really yellow, it's a shade of pink that's very slightly orangey

there's 2 things happening here:
1/ the tone mapping desaturates bright colours
2/ your perception interprets colour relative to context and relative to the magenta this shade of peachy-pink is yellow

i found it really interesting that i could still perceive yellows in a magenta-lit scene, which should make them look the same as red, so i did an experiment - they do look the same!

i was expecting magenta lighting to make leaves on trees appear black, but i am surprised it made reds appear yellow

so i was wondering what it would look like if the sky had a missing texture (as close to photorealism as i can get in blender)

Genuine coding question:

Does anybody actually like automatic parenthesis insertion?

Is it even possible to work like that without constantly tripping over misplaced close brackets that the editor's inserted?

I'm she/it and for me it feels like "she" is me most of the time and "it" is me when I'm unmasked because I'm no longer "being human".

I've only had one or two people use "it" and it feels nice like they're taking about a force of nature or a machine and i don't feel pressure to blend in and be normal. Like all my differences make sense because I'm just this mysterious thing that people can take the time to understand if they want to.

I had a fun time persuading our lighting system to handle a net material where the density of the netting is often sub pixel.

Ok there are actually a few things in the trailer with my shaders: The aviary roof netting, all of the trees and foliage, and the eye shader for the animals.

Most of the team are so relieved because they can talk about the stuff they've been working on!

Not me though.

My stuff is still mostly secret.
