we've created a no AI notice that we'll be using to reassure people seeing our trailers and games, with hand drawn lettering and a relaxing cute sleepy fox, and it's also up on itch in multiple formats for anyone to use: https://eniko.itch.io/cute-fox-no-ai-notice
options include with/without fox, opaque/transparent, and 4k, 2160p, 1440p, 1080p, and 720p resolutions
i'm desperate at this point so i guess i'll put out a #getfedihired call.
i've been coding for 12 years, i've been doing linux sysadmin for, like, 5.
i have particular strength in web development, anything C# or .NET, and the Windows API.
no requirements to line of work.
i live in london, UK. i am a dual european and UK citizen, anywhere in europe is fine. i am open to remote (don't mind office days) or possibly relocating elsewhere in the UK (or europe).
I had this idea that short-sleeved t-shirts with big floppy hoods would be A Look, so i got a couple of worn old t-shirts in need of retirement and made one into a hood for the other. I think it's A Look.
The cats. I was peer pressured into feeding them (by humans) and for the past few days they have feasted on chicken. Other cats come and go, these are the committed ones.
The two kittens were petrified of me at first, and now perch on the stair hoping for more chicken. Their mum blessed my toes with a scratch this morning. Got a small wooden cat statue to remember her by
Spent the day at an epic halloween-themed dance event at Dancebase, and there's few things that leave me so physically euphoric. The teachers were awesome, and the balance of styles was fun. Woo!

I have spent a lot of my career trying to reduce barriers to participation
But removing barriers to participation and removing participation itself are, to me, two different things

Guys who say "AI is just a tool" generally make more of an impression on me if they don't then go on to talk about it like it's their new girlfriend.
WOW @FieldFX Monday Night Bytes was INCREDIBLE FUN. Thanks all for sticking through the tech gremlins! 😄
That's a 1 hour livecoded #Strudel music milestone for me.
I think the only major goof was accidentally switching on the screen reader. Oh my!
Recording linked below. Includes lovely #TIC80 and #shader visual effects also built over an hour.
[Fair warning: May contain a 30 minute jazz odyssey homage to the Countdown clock theme]
Byte Jam night! I'll be live-coding visuals to live-coded music! It will probably get weird!

Lovely invite! :)
Felt so invited I have now booked my trip!
Nice mix of styles and lighting!
Cog-character is great! (does it have a name?)
What happens post-AI?
(Work in progress - comments welcome but I will probably edit this later!) The AI summer has arrived, on blast for a long while now, and potential financial crashes/civilisational collapses aside, the next AI winter doesn't seem to be around the corner. But still, life goes on post-AI. In fact, just using the phrase "post-AI" gives us agency over what comes next, giving us permission to set our own narrative. As I've said elsewhere, LLMs are like alcohol, as quick, easy solutions to […]this looks cool - permacomputing club at the Star & Shadow in Newcastle https://starandshadow.org.uk/id/9402/
