Looking at the history, the two branches merged before this one were called ``magic_mushroom'' and ``math_is_hard_lets_go_shopping''...

Been contacted by a headhunter because I had used ``deadcodeMcDeadcodeface'' as a branch name at a previous job.

Maybe I should be more careful when choosing branch names, after all.

In case you missed the #OpenBSD short story I published yesterday, but could not announce as I was busy travelling the whole day, you may read it at http://miod.online.fr/software/openbsd/stories/vsb.html

Once again, it's about old-and-odd hardware. And also a failed attempt at building a time machine.

With AI those days? People simply don't care, they will discard the bad reports and send the next one.

I can't stress how impolite and unrespectful this behaviour is.

If you are using AI to submit bug reports, your time is cheap because you're basically not doing anything.

Expecting me, rather than you, to triage hallucinations from real problems, is just plain rude.

4/4

This is an extremely negative aspect of AI-assisted bug reports: the tone of the AI reports are so adamant that their findings are correct, that their users will happily pass them on without doing any serious checks.

Prior to AI, if you were to submit a completely bogus bug report, you would have been ridiculed for wasting people's time, and you would make sure your next bug report was a real thing.

3/n

On one hand, this is positive because reading that piece of hallucinated guano made me look at a particular code area and fix one bug there.

On the other hand, I had been trusting the human person which sent these reports, and that faith has been completely destroyed since the {alleg, hallucin}ation of the AI ought to have been checked before wasting my (and my coworkers) time.

2/n

I have been on a receiving end of slightly over 100 bug reports, "found by AI but verified by the submitter", recently.

I had time to look at a few of these reports today.

One of them has a lengthy logorrhea (the word ``paragraph'' won't apply there) to explain how a given output is processed and will trigger havoc. That part was produced with AI.

Guess what? This detailed explanation is wrong, from the first sentence.

There is a real bug in the code. The AI payload doesn't trigger it.
