Do I know anyone with hotel tips in #Lisbon? My partner and I have three extra days there, and we’d like to stay in a hotel that is both well located and is itself comfortable / beautiful. We don’t have tourist plans yet, but suggestions are welcome.

Please stop anthropomorphizing AI company executives.

They're not sentient and they can't actually think. They just predict token sequences using statistical patterns scraped from LinkedIn, X and the Financial Times. The apparent "understanding" is simply a parlor trick: They produce text strings that *sound* plausible, but they don't actually have any understanding of the world.

I'll grant that they became a lot more technically impressive when Reinforcement Learning from Investor Sentiment pipelines were introduced, but fundamentally they're still just stochastic bullshit generators. Giving them access to the internet will end up being the most expensive mistake in the history of technology.

Just because I don't like or don't use PHP does not mean I am not going to patch it.

[incoherent screams of rage]

I know php may have been trending down these past 5 years, but what we are seeing today is exponential growth in the interest in php

Really you'd be foolish to not switch to php for your new projects

You must use php or get left behind

I first met PHP circa 1995, back when it was a ghastly Perl knock-off—Perl 4, at that, no OOP or test harnesses or attempts to tidy the language up. The only thing it brought to the table was slightly tighter web integration, and it wasn't worth the added suck elsewhere.

Everything I have learned about PHP since 1995 has only confirmed my decision to have *nothing* to do with it: it seems to be a loosely coupled lexicon of security exploits flying in loose formation, not a language.
