On my way to work i see several local streams have dried out. I live in a country that was supposed to never have any water shortage.
At work the force-enabled AI-welcome-screen on the company chat reminds me to drink water.
Next thing is trying to make sense of an AI generated ticket that was created by a person clearly not knowing what they're doing.
Then i have to review a bunch of vibe-code PRs that don't make any sense.
The news report about a new Google #AI datacenter near me.

Trying to get #9front running in bhyve, currently end up with a "bhyve exited with status 134", searched the internet for this, found a company that builds plant watering systems which is named "bhyve watering". wtf.

Yet another "OMG i upgraded my package-based freebsd and nobody died!"-post.
Still slightly more steps than e.g. a debian dist-upgrade, but definitely an improvement. It's more obvious now what's happening.
If one day the bootloader part is automated as well, i'll open a can of unhealthy soda for that ;-)

Wanted to setup a thing in my network at home. Searched for a short howto/tutorial. Stumbled over a website that is full of completely useless "tutorials". They always seems to consist of:
- install package
- start binary

This is obviously completely useless.
I'm pretty sure this is all slop crap.

Something weird happened on #openbsd to me:
I filled up the partition that contains / while trying to install the xfce meta-package.
Since the overall installation failed i was (i think) clean up most of it with a run of "pkg_delete -a". It removed a lot of stuff again at least.

But my / is still full. After digging around a bit i found:
# file /dev/sd3
/dev/sd3: XZ compressed data

It's size is 779M.
I assume this is some kind of package caching leftover?
How to get correctly rid of that?

Is there any chance left to stay in IT to earn the money required for keeping a family alive, without contributing in full turbo-mode to ruining this one planet we have?

I finally was brave enough to change the boot logo on the x280 to show something nice.
Wonder what @prahou thinks about that ;-)

What would be the #freebsd equivalent to "kpartx -a" on linux?

Asking because #bhyve is currently broken on 15.0 and i'd like to access the data in a zvol which is the disk of a bhyve vm.
Currently FreeBSD doesn't see (and doesn't care about) the partitions inside said zvol. I'd like to make it care temporarily :-)

I do have #openbsd as dualboot option together with #linux installed. My only problem with that is that a sysupgrade overwrites my grub and i then have to boot the linux installation once with a live-system to run a grub-install again.

I wonder if it is possible to avoid this annoying little step every 6 months.

Weird issue on #openbsd :

When i change display brightness in xorg, the system hangs for a few seconds.
When i run vmstat during that i get a jump in the run queue:
