Kind of disturbing to hear people saying "this is the new normal" about the climate crisis. It isn't a new normal, because it will carry on getting hotter if we carry on using fossil fuels.
This "new normal" talking point seems to be the latest way fossil fuel companies are trying to avoid action 🤮
Imagine Star Trek replicators but they work at the speed of modern 3d printers so Picard says "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot" and comes back 12 hours later to find half a cup, random glass fibres everywhere, and tea dripping on the floor.
We need more people like @timnitGebru and @emilymbender and @alex who question whether new tech actually does what it claims.
Being sceptical of grand claims seems such an obviously correct thing for journalists and academics to do, but for some reason in the tech field there is some kind of unwritten rule that new tech must be worshipped if it comes from a big tech company.
I am used to scheduled power outages. I have my priorities...

As a person with #audhd (selfdx), I find that my mind is like lightning. Though not in the neurotypical simile of singular speed.
A bolt of lightning, when observed closely, sends out hundreds, or even thousands of smaller seeker tendrils of varying lengths and paths, forking this way and that, finding the path of least resistance. Finally, once found, the primary bolt is sent down that path in an explosive moment of ultra-high current.
In a similar way, my mind so often races and darts between tens or even hundreds of possibilities and ideas and ventures. Desires to make and do and learn many many many completely divergent things. And the main bolt is the hyperfocused, hyperfixated, deep-dive or project that often follows.
That so many projects are unfinished is because the seeker tendrils seemingly never stop searching for more, wanting it all. Frolicking in possibility and having ability but lacking capacity.

This big red-brown fuzzy lump of concrete and muscle caught my eye while I was making my afternoon cup of tea.
It's a rare sighting, as the sun wasn't even below the horizon yet. I guess they had the munchies.
I did such a good job of these nails. I wish I could capture them to share in a way that would do them justice. Anyway, here is a photo of me admiring them in the morning sun, streaming through my bedroom window.
