So apparently Mindgard reported a trivial RCE in Cursor (if a repo opened by Cursor includes a git.exe file, that file is executed) in December 2025 (!) via HackerOne, and getting Cursor's attention required calling them out on LinkedIn. They ghosted Mindgard, prompting them to disclose. This is a 7-month window for attackers.

As it turns out, Aldi-Nord in Germany is offering mini air coolers (you know, like in this article: https://heise.de/-11346708) from tomorrow. Retail price: 12.99 EUR. Essentially the same device is marketed with aggressive ads for prices between 59.99 and 69.99 EUR (prices vary randomly) by shady businesses.
This exact model is available on Alibaba for around 4.50 EUR (minimum order of 5,000) - so Aldi's still turning a profit, but not ripping customers off.

EDIT: Or maybe not as reliably anymore - while it's not quarantined, it currently doesn't seem to win the race anymore (stuck on "MpCleanCallbackFunction called."). But this might have to do with the contaminated state of my test machine (which already has 6 or 7 volume shadow copies for the attacked volume).
The simplest of all possible modifications to the original RoguePlanet.cpp (literally interchanging two letters in the source code) defeats the detection and re-enables the exploit in current, fully patched Windows 11 with Definition Update 1.453.20.0 installed.

I looked at the source and the post on ossec as well as Spender's analysis on X - seems to be a fairly straightforward race condition around ptrace_may_access(). Fixed in mainline now, so tEcHnIcAlLy not an 0day.
Same result on a freshly installed Debian13 VM. The train wifi is too spotty to manually upgrade the VM to testing or unstable, so someone else will have to test with more bleeding-edge kernels.
