Neither of my parents went to college. When I was ten years old, they bought a 4BR, 3BA Victorian split-level cottage in a nice neighborhood on a single salary.

I went to college and earned a master's degree. So did my husband. We both individually make more than both of my parents' salaries combined. We cannot afford to rent a 2BR, 1BA apartment.

You wonder why this generation is so unhappy? Maybe it's because your generation got yours and then immediately pulled all the ladders up behind you specifically to fuck us over.

We were on the side of 4wd track today while David let the tires down a bit for a smoother ride, and I looked at a gumtree, wearing my polarised sun glasses - and it was iridescent! And I turned my head 90 degrees and it looked normal eucalypt colour! And I looked around and a few similar gums were doing the same thing! Amazing! :)

The industries that might better serve the public when nationalized are those that have intrinsic monopolies: transportation, education, water, electricity, health care.

Industries that should never be nationalized are those that aren't essential where the market provides the public with many choices such as fancy restaurants, fashion, entertainment... although these should still be subject to anti-trust scrutiny.

Software falls more firmly in the second category.

I don't get the argument that public institutions "have to be where people are". Why?

Pornhub has about the same amount of monthly active users as X. No one thinks our EU commissioners or the Swedish parliament must be on Pornhub.

In the pre-socials era no one expected the prime minister to make his statements in the gossip press "because that's where people are".

I think its time to dismiss that "where people are" argument altogether. No one will listen to me, but still 😐. #plus1

The maze in Stanthorpe is very clever and gets you to find all the dead ends, rather than just the way out (we found the way out 4 times before we were done :) )
