A question by someone who knows nothing about operating systems and is very anxious right now so is having stupid thoughts: can’t drivers be abstracted away so they don’t have to be rewritten again? I’m imagining a micro kernel could load a driver that exposes an API but it’s not tied to an specific OS. How dumb is this and way?
