From the v4.7.0 notes, I learned that the new release uses ActivityPub better to deal with preview-cards.

They are now a link object attached to the message object. The first link object will act as preview card. I like that design!

From the post linked above: "trusting consumers can skip generating their own previews". That seems the right way.

Mastodon only users should not notice anything, but when messages are exchanged between fedi platforms, it may matter

For now, saving 40+GB of outdated media attachments. Hurray for tootctl!

A little more server maintenance in preparation of upgrade to v4.7.0...

Backup database, clean status using tootctl; then will run basic upgrade step, followed by "database migrations".

Sounds like "compiling!" ;-) and they say it may take long - however, most likely, server can keep running during the migrations.

If we are down the coming hours, I misunderstood that - be warned!
