I watched #TheReturn with a friend tonight. Much preferred it to Nolan's version tbh.

TL;DR:

- costumes have the vibe of production had a bunch of blankets they wanted to reuse but wasn't terrible

- you can see this is Greece / the Mediterranean (I think parts were filmed in Italy) instantly and most of the actors look like they could be from the region

- superb acting

- not just without gods, without any religion

- full frontal nudity because European production gives 💯 bonus points

I spoke to a friend yesterday who is annoyed by AI slop on the web as well but still thinks AI is a net positive because it had been handy to him a few times (one time it found something that resulted in a substantial tax break).
I said I have never had a positive experience with an LLM, but even if I had a handful of positive results, I don't think it would pay off the daily slop I have to wade through when using the internet. I'd have no issue if it vanished tomorrow. I'd dance on its grave!

One of the ways AI has made my work worse and I mean worse in an absolutely unenjoyable way is that when I do image search for "cyclops phallus" I now get at least 50% AI slop, despite using DuckDuckGo's NoAI search, and it just sucks the joy right out of everything. I do image search regularly and it used to be such a fun part of my job. Now I dread it. AI slop is THAT BAD. A plague on everyone who added theirs to the huge pile of shit everyone now has to wade through online.
