Wow. Ben Affleck is not someone I expected to be spouting AI truths. This is a brilliant watch.

Machinarium is coming back after 17 years!

And that's okay, because it's never too late to come back.

Some adventures are worth waiting for ❤️

Imagine, for a minute, that you:

1) still go to live music shows
2) go to a live music show in a suburb of the major metropolitan city in your area featuring a band that was big enough that you were willing to drive a little while to be there
3) arrive to find that the opening act is a 17 year old, and he's surprisingly good
4) find at the merch table that this band that you love has a printed catalog of music they recommend, along with prices and mailing addresses, and you can just ship an envelope with $10 in it (or however much tapes cost in 1988) and a few days later a tape would show up at your house, recommended to you by the band that you had just paid money to see.

I spent a *lot* of time in the modern DIY music scene. I ran a venue for several years. I still book shows.

I've almost never seen anything approaching that level of solidarity from modern artists. They have websites and bandcamps and instagram feeds where they share posts from "the homies" and they'll talk about "the homies" but they aren't taking the time to collate and curate the info. They depend on spotify for discovery. They get fucked.

TIL that what we call polygrips, are called channel locks in USA

Winter is coming. Maintenance is not.

What's up on the smolweb? September 2026 roundup

(a bit late)

Autumn is here, the AI slop tide keeps rising on the big web, and the #smolweb responds by growing quietly but noticeably. Here is a roundup of what happened on the small web, the #smolnet, and around the #GeminiProtocol in September 2026...

Today is a glorious Autumn day, clear blue skies, light wind and seasonably warm. I'll do two rides today. This morning I did a quick 20 mile ride on the #RochMN city trails, enjoying the colors the the trees are now displaying here. This evening, one of our cycling clubs is having a season close out pizza ride. Who can refuse that?

How AI model collapse works in real time.

Technically, I describe the problem here

If you want to make sure that your site can be manipulated agentically by Meta's Muse, do not block traffic from ASN AS32934, because if you did that, it might make it impossible for the Muse agents to reach your site.

Did you know you only need a small brain to make silly little drawings?

reposting this because holy FUCK if this isn't so goddamn true

If I don't keep my car roadworthy and crash into yours, it hasn't gone "rogue", it's my negligence and I'm responsible. If my dog attacks you, I am liable. There are no rogue AIs, just negligent AI companies. Prosecute them.
