@JoBlakely I'm on PixelFed. I made an account to use as an Instagram alrernative. Essentially it's a good place to display all your images, portfolio style.
As for the feed, it's like instagram without the stories and reels. I also use it to follow illustration/image focused Mastodon accounts just to look at artwork without the text in the forfront. (I think I follow you from there as well) For some reason, it doesn't federate with my specific Mastodon instance. It's weird, I can see pixelfed posts from mastodon and share them om my masto timeline, but the pixelfed account wout see replies. I also can't see my Masodon post from Pixelfed)

Is it hard to find people to follow or get follows? I am seeing posts that say that. I found that very problematic about Patreon. All the follow development had to happen off the actual platform. But while it was a challenge at first on mastodon to develop my feed & follows, the system still allowed for it, just took time & getting used to.

@sacha it seems to need the feature Instagram had at first…’discover’. A way to view what is trending to help start people off with their feed.
That is what is missing from Patreon too. It’s demands so much, including stealing your client base, but gives nothing that I can see.

It does have a discover feature, I think it's chronological.

@sacha oh good to know. I deleted my post from before as it seems most of the complaints seemed unfounded when I looked at the main Pixelfed site.
I think for those who want the selfie and influencer type posts, it will not be that for them. It seems more observer/art focused.

@sacha yes exactly. I would think it an improvement. Less manipulative. Less people faking their life to be ‘seen’.
