Some things from this morning, which I was going to post as three individual posts but why bother:

Oh good, I was worried that the estate agent might not send me a confirmation that they'd received my offer and information. But they sent one this morning.

Only one collared dove at the feeder today. Which means the other must be stationed at the nest, tending to eggs or chicks. The collared dove family is growing!

On my way out of the meeting yesterday, I was telling myself: at least we only have one of these a year. Now boss says she wants another in October. Bahhhhh grrrrr noooo etc.

OK so, when a Cis-Woman takes testosterone she gets put on the front page of the Mail as a "this is a cool new thing" piece. But when a Transman takes testosterone he's sick and wrong and should be subject to conversion therapy.

I'm back. It didn't help. I think the central problem is that I'm really stressed about tomorrow's big in-person meeting. So I'm a bit poorer and still feeling rubbish.

I do have seed compost though. And a sage to replace the one that unexpectedly died last year.

Fuck it, I'm going to the garden centre.

I shouldn't because I'll spend money and recently I've been spending money like it's going out of fashion. And I should stay home and mow the fucking lawn (although that will be difficult because my finger hurts).

But I'm going anyway because it'll be nice and I need some fresh air. And some seed compost.

And it's happened again -- someone replied to one of my posts about mansplaining with a "well, actually ..." joke about mansplaining. You get blocked for this folks, because it is is boundary crossing behavior.

When someone writes about something that is painful or even just unpleasant, responding with: "How but a little more of that, but as a joke?" is not funny, respectful, or appropriate.

Morning everyone. Shortly to go out for a morning jaunt. Weather's a bit grey but should be reasonable enough. I just need a cup of tea before I head out.

I do like a morning walk at this time of year. Not least because it gives me the rest of the day to relax. Also, when it starts getting hot (assuming we have that kind of summer, and who can tell any more?), morning will clearly be the best time.

I buy peppermint tea from Aldi. It's not very convenient because every single individual tea bag is wrapped in paper for some reason but I can at least just go and buy them from a shop with cash normally. At least until 2024, when they started wrapping each? individual?? teabag???? in plastic??????? so of course I stopped buying my teabags there because, well, OBVIOUSLY I stopped, wew lad yikes. I sent Aldi an email saying hey yo I'm not buying your weird plastic-wrapped teabags, email me when you come to your senses, they emailed back almost immediately saying they were a very sustainable company actually and you can put the plastic in the recycling and do not reply to this email.

So I started getting Celestial Seasonings tea bags which just come in a cardboard box lined with wax paper. I bought a bunch of boxes off the evil monster bastard empire amazon. Then I went grumble grumble well I suppose I should stop buying shit from amazon as well, they're so convenient why can't they just be good, so I would occasionally grab a box out of Giant Eagle, which is a real American grocery chain that actually exists and has that name and this is your daily reminder that it's impossible to satirize Americans.

Anyway spouse has a sore throat and needs much pep T so yesterday I was gonna go to the whiskey shop for whiskey and Aldi for milk and also heck we're out of mintyhot so I went up to Giant Eagle and as I was walking up to the door a guy walked in with a handgun and one of those belts with all bullets around it straight past the bouncer bold as brass and I turned right around and went nah fuck that I'll go to Aldi.

Defeated at amazon by their evil-capitalism shittiness and defeated at giant eagle by their guns-yay shittiness I returned to Aldi to embrace their that's-a-lot-of-plastic-even-for-americans shittiness and I shamefully bought a box of peppermint-plastic tea.

And when I opened it this morning the teabags were still individually wrapped, but in paper like they were before. So like, still a pain in the arse and a pointless waste, but apparently while I wasn't buying their plastic-wrapped teabags they stopped wrapping them in plastic. And never bothered to email me back and say hey Dan we did what you asked, come back and give us money.

You don't expect buying teabags to have fucking three acts and a betrayal and a twist and a redemption arc but here we are I suppose

We decided to name these first two babies Marmite and Vegemite (in honour of our recent Aotearoa New Zealand trip). They are absurdly cute still.

How many more baby goats will happen today in between my zoom meetings?

one of our cats* stole my watch — which is my ecg, o2 sensor, and heart rate monitor — from its hangy place last night while i was in the shower and dragged it around (including down three tile stairs). the screen now has a small crack in it, and as replacing the screen will cost more than an as-new, second-hand** replacement watch :blobcatscared:, i'm trying to repair it.

husband is sure that there's some kind of glue that will go into cracks in glass and fill them invisibly. he says it's wetter than water and just spreads out where it needs to be when applied. have you heard of this?

if anyone could help with this, that would be amazing.
