🚀 💯 📢 The good folks at #DHQ, the Digital Humanities Quarterly, did it! DOIs are here! 🎂 👏 🎉

I think we should all be posting a DOI to one of our favorite articles in DHQ to celebrate!

Here's mine, cough, my first and only single-author piece in DHQ:
https://doi.org/10.63744/qa2r7vpsu35k

As a #Quarto / reveal.js user, and someone who hasn't used PowerPoint in about 15 years, I am intrigued by the new look and feel of many of the presentation slides at #DH2026.

Often, they have a very particular and recongnizable preference for layout, colors, boxes, illustrations, and fonts.

How are folks preparing their slides these days? Is that #PowerPoint with some generative AI transforming simple bullet points, or is it some other tool? Would be curious to learn about this!

Coming up soon, the poster session! Meet me to find out what 'Mapping DH' is, and how you can contribute...

Spoiler alert... you can find out more here: https://mapping-dh.wikibase.cloud

Check out my new #DigitalHumanities collection:

https://fedihum.org/collections/116890823163384266

Collections are a new feature of Mastodon where you can provide a list of up to 25 accounts to others, around a theme, community, anything really, to make onboarding easier. (Not sure yet, how to search for collections, though!)

Work in progress, because many relevant servers have apparently not updated to 4.6 yet.

Btw.: As usual, our provider is incredibly fast! We're already on v4.6.3. Yay, Weingärtner-IT!

Also, gestern war ja dieser "Digital Independence Day". Super Sache!

.

#DH2025 Yay!

Not impressed with legacy #publishers, in this case #Brill.

- Publisher's website of (discontinued) journal has no content anymore: https://brill.com/view/journals/hew/hew-overview.xml

- #DOI to article does not resolve: http://dx.doi.org/10.1163/157018606779068306

For purely academic purposes of verification, I was able to ascertain that the paper exists and would be available from alternative sources...

Cool, @rstockm hat eine Mastowall für die #DHd2025 aufgesetzt!

Link: https://rstockm.github.io/mastowall/?hashtags=DHd2025,DHd25

Offizielles Konferenz-Hashtag ist übrigens #DHd2025, soweit ich das mitbekommen habe.

Danke an @jplie für den Hinweis!

Does anybody know more about #EuropeSays, the news aggregator (?) / news and opinion platform (?).

They have an account here https://pubeurope.com/@europesays and a website, but the sources, curation policy, ownership, location, people behind it etc. are not noted anywhere on the site, afaict.

#Whois doesn't help much, except to show they don't want to disclose who owns the domain!

The reason I'm interested is to find out whether it makes sense to boost their content or not. Looks fishy so far.

Now that this instance is officially open, I suppose it is time for an #introduction! I'm involved in #DigitalHumanities, with a focus on #Computational Literary Studies, #French #Literature and #OpenScience. I work at #Trier University in Germany and co-direct, with Claudine @moulin, the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (@tcdh). I'm also involved in @DHd and #ADHO. – This is my personal, academically-oriented account. See also: https://toot.io/@christof
