Something software people can't seem to get into their heads:
When you pester people with an "update now" button and they push it because they happen to have a minute of time, the expectation is a brief interruption while the software updates and then it comes back and works and looks exactly like before, maybe with a new security hole.
Everything else is massively disrupting and will earn you nothing but hatred.
Sneaky dialogue popping up to approve your newly added "telemetry"? Piss off.
Completely redesigned interface? Wow, why.
A new empty profile is created and all bookmarks are gone? Holy crap, how could you fuck this up so badly.
Nobody reads release notes anymore because most release notes now read "fixes and improvements".
