I think a lot of people rely too much on their own beliefs about the mediocrity of AI, and project their expectations on the capitalists behaviour. As a consequence, they expect an AI crisis soon because they can't see any meaningful use for AI themselves. The thing is, a lot of capitalists are already pretty happy with what AI can deliver, and the fact that the average person considers it still crap doesn't really matter.

I'm not saying the bubble won't burst (but does it mean the end of AI hype really ?), but we definitely need to frame our critique as if the crash never happens.
